Boy holds baby sister for the first time and serenades her with “What a Wonderful World”
For most young kids, the world is still a wonderful place. You eat, you sleep, you play, you don’t have to pay bills or watch presidential debates or worry about much of anything at all. You really can still think to yourself, “what a wonderful world.”
One little boy is going viral not only for his refreshing innocence but his heartwarming gesture towards his brand new baby sister. In a video that is sure to make you realize there are still some wonderful things in the world, a young boy holds his newborn sister for the first time and decides to sing her a song.
That song? “What a Wonderful World,” the classic written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss and recorded by Louis Armstrong in 1967.
The video was posted to the subreddit r/humansbeingbros which bills itself as “A place for sharing videos, gifs, and images of people being total bros.”
This little guy is being a bro is more than one way!
While it’s no Grammy-winning rendition of the song, watching the tyke look down at the newborn in his tiny arms and sing to her is truly touching. And you can’t convince commenters that she’s not looking right back at him and smiling (despite the fact that she’s too young to process the moment).
“That newborn is SMILING. You can’t convince me otherwise,” insisted one commenter.
She really does look like she’s engaging with her big brother. And who knows? Maybe they are connected in some way at the moment. It certainly looks like big brother is bonding at least.
But he’s not the only big brother to go viral for a sweet sibling song.
In August 2019, a mother named Parker Rose shared a sweet video of her son singing Beyonce’s βBrown Skin Girlβ to his baby sister.
While the only guarantee is that sibling relationships will have their low points, the parents who captured this video – who we know nothing about at this point – will always be able to look back and show their kids the sweet moment that went viral because they were just so loving. That should come in handy when they’re teenagers!
“Did anyone else gasp in awe and shed a tear? I can see many years of arguing followed up by, ‘I’m sorry. I love you.’ That’s a special love,” said one commenter.
The video put smiles on the faces of tens of thousands of people (and counting!) and brought a tear to more than one eye.
If you can’t get enough of kids meeting their new siblings for the first time, this slideshow is sure to keep you saying “aww.”
