Dog stolen from backyard gets emotional reunion with his best friend 2 years later

Your dog will never forget you.

If you leave for a short vacation or even a semester of college, your dog will not forget the great times you’ve spent together. It seems like it doesn’t matter how far you travel or how long your trip is. Your dog will always be ready to give you love and affection whenever you get back home.

But how long does a dog’s memory last? Will he remember you even after two years away? The answer is yes.

In June 2019, an animal shelter in the Ukraine rescued a blue-eyed dog from the streets.

This fella was starving, dirty, and covered in mange. The shelter started treating the mange and working on getting his diet back to normal. They shared a picture of him on their Facebook page in an attempt to find him a home.

Their hopes weren’t high. The photograph they shared wasn’t the most attractive. The dog was dirty and his fur was patchy. Much to the shelter’s surprise, he gained a lot of traction on the social media site. His eyes were a dazzling blue that attracted a lot of attention. The post ended up being shared hundreds of times.

Two days after posting his photo, a woman contacted them. She said that the dog looked similar to her missing dog.

The woman explained that her dog, Lord, had been kidnapped out of her yard in 2017. She missed her dog very much and hasn’t stopped looking for him since.

The following day, the woman came to the shelter in high hopes that she had finally found her long lost friend. The two were hesitant while approaching each other at first, but it soon became clear that this dog really was Lord!

The shelter took a video of the reunion and shared it on their Facebook page:

“Fantastic Monday! Tears of joy in the morning!” they wrote on their Facebook Page. “All this time, the owners were looking for him, posted photos in groups. And here it is – a miracle. Thanks to your repost the dog was seen by a family friend living in Australia as well!!! I called the owners and they rushed for their treasure!”

The shelter thanked everyone who shared the original post for their role in reuniting Lord with his family.

We thank everyone who shared our post,” the shelter wrote. “Thanks to you that the dog’s life was saved, and peace returned to his owner’s soul!”

The video of the reunion quickly went viral.

It has collected over a million views and everyone was touched by the obvious love shared between these two.
