When you see the “Beware of Dog” sign, you definitely think of the scariest dog, or multiple dogs, that are protecting a place. Thanks to Hollywood, you think of that junkyard dog with the spiked collar and big teeth.

While the sign should be respected when put up, sometimes people put the sign up and without having the “bark” to back it up.

In this review of some cute guard dogs, it’s apparent they couldn’t scare an intruder for the life of them. Although, I wouldn’t be surprised if these dogs could keep an intruder busy by giving licks and cuddles till the authorities arrived. So, maybe not all hope is lost for their watchdog careers.

1) Sketch me

The artist missed the boat completely on this one. While that dog pictured looks very scary, the one with his head over the fence looks adorable. “Beware of Drool”

2) Just a reminder

This is your last chance before this little dinker rages on you. With kisses. I’m bringing you the sign to let you know, this is serious.

3) Whatever you say

If you’d like me to close the gate, just say please. Please! Oh ok, I will close the gate. But you just opened the gate into my heart.

4) What dog?

Oh, there you are! It’s too cute, this little guard dog standing there as tall the sign is. Maybe it’s an ankle biter, though. Better be cautious.

5) Tough Fence

That’s a bold and strong looking fence. They must have a huge dog to have needed that. Oh, I see. Give it 12-24 months and it will be needed.

6) Doggy daycare

Stay out of my play area. Pitbulls get a bad rap but, they are some of the most affectionate dogs on the planet. Look at that smile!

7) The Pug life

He’s got an eye on you. Maybe “Beware of Dog” in this case, means to watch him, and make sure he doesn’t run outside?

8) Tall Boy

This Scooby-Doo dog has the height to be intimidating but, that adorable face says otherwise. I think I’d take my chances.

9) Got the sign too early

This one could certainly be a good watchdog, one day. Till then, this guy might nibble your finger, or roll around hoping for belly scratches.

10) Golden spirit

Never, in a million years, would a golden retriever make a decent guard dog. If someone came through, they would just try to jump on them. That’s all they have. Too cute and too funny!

From the overwhelming evidence in the pictures above, we think it’s pretty dang obvious that not all dogs are cut out for guard duty. If you want them to kill your neighbors and random strangers with an overdose of cuteness, on the other hand, it seems the only thing you gotta do is take your pick!
