Put these 10 plants in your bedroom – they could help you sleep better

When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep it seems like we’re overwhelmed with options. While many of these tips work, it’s the natural remedies that are more favorable.

We all know that to sleep better, we should stress less, avoid late-night screen time, and establish a wind-down routine – but did you know that keeping plants in your bedroom can also help?

According to the experts, introducing the right greenery to your bedroom has a whole host of benefits. Plants can increase humidity levels, improve air quality, and even boost your mood. Some plants are more effective for sleep than others, and we’ve covered the best (and most beautiful!) ones in this post.

Most of us love ivy for outside our homes, but it’s a fantastic bedroom option too. This plant is low-maintenance and a natural air-cleaner indoors. A NASA study found that “English ivy was reported to reduce levels of formaldehyde, benzene, and trichloroethylene from the air-volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are known carcinogens.”

2. French Lavender

We probably all know someone who puts lavender under their pillow to help them sleep, thanks to its age-old reputation for having soothing and relaxing qualities. It’s ideal for the bedroom, though there’s no need to put it under your pillow! Let it grow naturally in a plant pot instead. It’ll give off a fresh scent, which, as reported by The Sleep Foundation, helps 71% of people sleep more soundly.

3. Weeping Fig

This tree is less commonly known, or you may have heard it referred to as a ficus plant. If you have a bedroom with carpet, weeping figs are ideal for removing allergens in the air before they can settle into the fibers of your flooring. With fresher air in your bedroom, you’ll be able to doze off in no time.

4. Sage

Sage is wonderfully versatile – you can grow it to use in cooking, or simply to enjoy its scent. The odors released by sage are said to induce relaxation, so it’s worth buying one of these for your nightstand. As an added bonus, sage is really pretty to look at, and you can grow it in many different varieties.

5. Snake Plant

Snake plants are the best plants to have inside your home when it comes to improving air quality, according to NASA. This is because they help to remove nitrogen, xylene, and formaldehyde, three common air contaminants. Cleaner air guarantees a better night’s sleep.
