10 small things people do that cats really hate

This probably isnât too hard to believe but sometimes, we really annoy our cats. They love us and appreciate us, but they are also independent and sometimes strange creatures who like things to happen in particular ways.
Nobody is perfect and you can only do your best. But if youâre a cat owner who cares about what your furry little friend thinks of you, check out these 10 things you might do that really get on their nerves.
1. Giving them the wrong water bowl
It sounds silly, but there are some water bowls they donât like using. If your cat is refusing to drink water, it could very well be because they donât like the bowl itâs in.

2. Making loud noises
Cats have very strong senses, therefore making them extra sensitive when it comes to loud noises. Anything like banging, slamming or screaming are all big no-noâs.
3. Declawing them
There are so many reasons to never declaw your cat. The surgery is an actual bone mutation which can lead to chronic pain for your cat. It also leaves them feeling defenseless, helpless, and agitated. Donât do it.

4. Dressing them up
It might be a fun activity for you, but cats donât love it. The clothes make them feel restricted which results in them feeling agitated. They donât love being laughed at either.

5. Not giving them a comfortable place to go to the bathroom
This one might seem obvious, but it makes a huge difference. Cats are picky â thatâs no secret â but itâs especially true when it comes to their litter box. There should be one litter box per cat in the house, plus an extra. And make sure to clean it on a daily basis.

6. Teasing them
Cats donât like to be poked, pulled, chased or any other sudden movements, especially when there are guests in the house. It should be common sense but itâs important that you respect your cat and their space!

7. Not respecting their space
One thing we all know about cats: they love their independence. Itâs really important that they have some sort of space to themselves, whether thatâs a porch or a cardboard box.

8. Scolding them
You want to train them of course, but itâs important to find a good balance. Try rewarding good behaviors instead and be more gentle overall.

9. Not grooming them
Cats are good at grooming themselves but they still need a helping hand. Long nails, knotted hair, and bugs and ticks are no fun for anyone. They might not love the grooming process, but they love how they feel after.

10. Ignoring weird behavior
If your cat is acting strange, there is probably a good reason for that. Cats are good at disguising what is wrong so itâs your job to figure out when something isnât right.

Now that you have the helpful information, make sure you are treating your furry friend how they want to be treated!
