Angelina Friedman was born during World War One. She lived through the Great Depression, World War Two, the Cold War and much more. She was determined to make it through COVID-19.

Life has its ups and downs. No one knows this more so than Angelina Friedman. She’s a 101-year-old who recently recovered from coronavirus.

But what’s even more incredible is that this isn’t even the first pandemic that she’s lived through.

No one can say exactly where Angelina Friedman (originally Sciales) was born. That’s because her mother went into labor during the long voyage from Italy to the USA.

Her entire family was fleeing Europe, hoping to avoid the Spanish Flu and find a better life in America.

Sadly, Angelina’s mother would never get to experience a new life. She died on the boat during childbirth. However, Angelina’s father and 10 siblings were all there to look after and nurture her.

Her first ever experience on dry land was Ellis Island. Soon, her family had settled in Brooklyn, where they lived for many years.

When Angelina grew up, she met Harold Friedman and married.

The two had a happy marriage. But it was not without difficulties.

Angelina had several miscarriages and medical issues.

Then, Angelina and Harold both developed cancer. They went in for treatment. The treatment was effective on Angelina. Sadly, Harold succumbed to the illness.

In the late 70s, Angelina retired.

She moved upstate to Westchester. Eventually, she moved into North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Center.

In late March 2020, Angelina went into the hospital for a medical procedure.

However, while in the hospital, she started feeling ill with flu-like symptoms. A test soon confirmed that she had contracted coronavirus.

The procedure was postponed. The doctors all focused on helping Angelina overcome coronavirus.

Many people were pessimistic. At 101, Angelina would be highly susceptible to the disease. But day by day, Angelina managed to fight COVID-19. Then she started getting better.

Eventually, Angelina was well enough to return to her nursing home. Obviously, she would be isolated. But everyone was amazed that she was recovering so rapidly.

One month after her diagnosis, Angelina tested negative. She had beaten coronavirus.

Angelina is still socially distancing. However, she is occupying herself with crocheting until it’s safe for her to interact with her fellow residents.

Joanne Meola, Angelina’s daughter, was not at all surprised to see her mother overcome coronavirus. “She is not human,” she told PIX 11, “She has super human DNA.”

Everyone at Angelina’s nursing home was overjoyed to hear that the 101-year-old had recovered.

She is many other residents and employees’ favorite resident. For instance, last year, during a mock prom at the home, the other residents all named her the prom queen.

Coronavirus has been and continues to be a devastating virus. It’s important for us to all do what we can to keep vulnerable people safe. Not everyone is as lucky as Angelina.
