101-year-old woman deemed 'superhuman' after surviving Spanish flu, cancer, and COVID-19

There are people in this world who are living angels. They continue to persevere and defeat anything that stands in their way. This New York woman Angelina Friedman is one of those remarkable survivors who just won’t let anything get her down.

She has endured countless hardships and continues to overcome them with grace.

Angelina’s mother gave birth to her aboard a ship from Italy to New York in 1918 during the Spanish Flu pandemic, sadly her mother died during childbirth. However, Angelina was taken care of by her two older sisters who were also aboard the ship. Angelina lived on to live a full and happy life but she endured plenty more obstacles along the way.

Angelina has overcome miscarriages, cancer, sepsis, and two world pandemics which leads all of her family members to believe she has super DNA.

Most of Angelina’s family lived to be at least 95 years old which is quite phenomenal. Now Angelina at 101 years old has outlived her husband Harold Friedman and her 10 siblings. Her smile has the power to light a whole room which comes to no surprise that she has the strength to overcome severe circumstances.

Angelina lives in North Westchester Restorative Therapy and Nursing Home where she began having fevers off and on.

She went to the hospital on March 21st for a minor medical procedure where she was also diagnosed with COVID-19. Angelina spent a week at the hospital until she went back to her nursing home to stay in isolation. Weeks and weeks went by as she continued to fight the novel pandemic and on April 20th she was tested negative for the coronavirus.

Angelina now joins the elderly survivors of this global pandemic!

Angelina’s daughter Joanne Merola even told CNN,

“My mother is a survivor. She is not human. She has superhuman DNA.”
