1. Not sleeping

When you stay up late, you are not allowing your body to reset itself. At night, your spinal fluid clears all the junk in your brain and heals the body. This helps you to feel refreshed and rejuvenated in the morning. Bags and tired eyes are a symptom you don’t have to live with.

2. Resentment

Emotional trauma can translate into physical issues. When you hold onto bitterness or resentment, it causes stress. You can carry this stress in your body.

3. Stress

We all know this one. Stress can cause an array of things. From breakouts to hair loss, reducing stress is a great way to feel and look younger.

4. Sugar

Sugar causes inflammation across your body. This inflammation can cause you to have physical issues and ultimately makes you look terrible. Eating less sugar is a sure way to feel and look better, too.

5. Fruits and vegetables

A healthy you looks better than an unhealthy you. Make sure you are getting all those micronutrients from the recommended servings of fruit and veggies. Tip: don’t drink it in juice form! They usually have a TON of sugar.

6. “No fat”

This is a myth that started decades ago. Since then, fat has gotten a bad wrap. Fat is good for you, provided its healthy fats. Funny enough, “low fat” products usually substitute it with sugar.

7. Too much alcohol

Don’t go overboard. A glass of wine is said to be good for your heart, but anything in excess is bad for you. This can cause you to look ROUGH, but you don’t need me to tell you that.

8. Smoking

We all know the dangers of tobacco. Aside from the obvious health dangers like cancer and heart problems, smoking can cause your teeth to yellow and your mouth to wrinkle.

9. Music volume

While not technically “looking old,” this one is acting old. If you listen to music that is too loud, you can damage your hearing and constantly be saying, “what was that?” like your grandpa.

10. Sitting

We aren’t made for long term sitting (I saw as I write this on a three-hour sitting binge). Make sure you get up and move during the day. An active life is a healthy one.

11. Tanning

Tanning is horrible for your skin. It is trading beauty from your future, for darker skin in the now. Tanning shoots UV light, ionizing radiation, at your skin, which causes your skin to protect itself from DNA damage. The solution? Melanin production. Don’t damage your DNA, just for dark skin.
