In 2020, Lauren turned her summer around by finishing a renovation project.
With the pandemic going on, it seemed like kids wouldnât have a lot of fun during that summer holiday.
On the other hand, Nelson kept herself busy by building a tiny place to hang out. Keep reading because the phenomenal results will leave you in awe.
After saving $400, preteen decided to make a cozy place for her and her friends to hang out.
In an interview with the local news outlet WKBW, Aimee Nelson, Laurenâs mom, explained that sheâs been saving money for quite some time.
âShe has an envelope where she puts some money aside,â said Mrs. Nelson.

One day, Lauren was reading the American Girl doll magazine and saw a $650 little VW bus they sell.
Laurenâs father was shocked and told her that she could buy âher own camper for that price.â Little did he know that his daughter would do just that.

As fate would have it, Nelsonâs neighbor decided to sell his RV for $500.
Everything was perfect: the price was within Laurenâs budget, and the neighbor lives just down the road. The girl decided to bargain.

âIt wasnât very hard. He said $500, and I said $400 because that was the money I had in my bank account and he said sold,â Lauren described the negotiation.
The Nelsons were excited to help their daughter create a dream home.
First, the family did a deep cleaning of the van, then they painted the kitchen cabinets and covered the plaid benches.
When Lauren bought the RV, she found mice inside but that didnât stop her.
It was an old van, and she was well aware that a lot of work was ahead of her. However, the transformation is breathtaking. Look at the beautiful teal color in the kitchen. The family also built a bathroom inside, and now itâs a complete home.

Lauren spends five days a week in her beloved van, and she named it âCamp Hygge,â referring to a Danish concept of coziness.
Nelson additionally explained that she was inspired mainly by home renovation ideas on Pinterest. HGTVâs Tiny House Hunters were also a great source of excellent ideas.
Lauren plans to pursue a career in home renovation, and we couldnât be more proud of her. Not only did she complete her project, but she also found inspiration for what she wants to do in the future.

Laurenâs mother shared some before and after photos on Facebook, adding a funny caption: âI just donât understand why my home doesnât look like this!â
The entire family helped Lauren to get things done.
The girl was given pillows, sheets, a rug, cozy throws, and some décor for her birthday. The rest of the items came from her family home in Attica.

Thousands of people commented on photos saying that the outcome is more than impressive.
We agree Lauren should be really proud of what sheâs done. Sweetheart, if you decide to take some company, let us in. We would love to hang out there. It looks very peaceful and comfortable.

Who would have thought that you can achieve so much with just a couple of hundreds? The most important thing is that itâs all yours, Lauren.
