12 Rapunzel-worthy hair braids done by a self-taught artist
Being self-taught is a respect-worthy thing, whatever skill it may be. Trendafilka Kirova is a self-taught hair artist. Just like self-taught singers, guitar players and dancers, she proves that time, patience and dedication are the best things to have. A teacher and the right resources help a ton too, obviously. But only practice can get you where you want to go.
Trendafilka began honing her craft when she was carrying her first child. She spent those long months of pregnancy watching hair-braiding tutorials to pass the time. Naturally, she got particularly good at it – even saying that it calms her down. Now having gone the freelance artist route, Trendafilka is impressing people on Instagram nonstop with her demonstrations of her hair-braiding.
1. “You thought this was a normal styling session? Well, I’m a braid knot.”

We all know someone who can do braids and knots in hair. But Trendafilka goes the extra mile and makes every individual braid just as intricate as the hairstyle altogether. That little flower in the center is a magnificent touch.
2. A sparkler to go with a sparkling hairstyle.

This braiding job captures the same cold, snowy feel of December. Getting a braiding style like this might just be a gift on its own!
3. Intertwining has never looked prettier.

Watching someone do braids this good is gobsmacking, especially when people like you and I can barely tie a decent knot. This braiding job from Trendafilka looks like a strand of DNA, with a more beautiful twist, of course.
4. Roses are red, braiding is hard, trimming is better in that regard.

We all know what a rose looks like, but it ain’t so easy trying to recreate one. Trendafilka has no such difficulty. She can just braid a whole bouquet of roses right here!
5. She really loves making flowers it seems.

When you get really good at something, it becomes an absolute blast to do just for fun. Trendafilka seems to love showcasing how well she can braid hair into flowers, and I’m not complaining at all! That’s nothing short of fantastic work right there.
6. I heart braiding.

Whether it’s cake decorating, fashion designing, tattooing or braiding in this case, there’s one thing that always works – when in doubt, add some hearts!
7. Art goes well beyond pencils, paint and canvas.

Trendafilka’s “Woven fishtail braids” look spectacular, and she works with hair about as effortlessly as an expert tailor works with fabric.
8. So beautiful, and also so satisfying.

It takes an artist’s hand to make a piece with harmony, and I’m not talking about music. Harmonic shapes and patterns are never not satisfying to admire, and Trendafilka has delivered really well in that department.
9. “No, I’m not going to stop putting hearts in people’s hair.”

Here’s another heart, though with a considerably more intricate pattern than the last one. I have to say, the extra detail inside the heart sells it even more than if it were just an outline. Nothing Trendafilka can’t pull off.
10. That’s a pretty chain!

Chains get a bad rap since we associate them with restraining people. But those patterns can look pretty gorgeous when they’re not made of metal. Here, Trendafika has adorned this model’s head with a chain of her own golden hair, and it looks stunning.
11. Bows taken to the next level!

Bows are another classical pretty shape, up there with hearts and stars. And since Trendafilka has a consistent trend of turning them into spectacular braided patterns, it was only a matter of time before she did the same with bows.
12. Flowers are too common, how about vines instead?

In one of her more excellent showcases of skill yet, Trendafilka goes the unconventional route and braids a vine and leaves pattern into the hair, and it’s incredible. Flowers get all the exposure, but plants can look just as beautiful even without fancy colorful petals.
Trendafilka is truly an artist with hair, and every head she touches turns into a master artist’s canvas. That’s 100% thanks to her dedication and practice. Let’s give her the respect she very well earned! You can appreciate all her work on her Instagram account. Now, wouldn’t it be nice to find someone to share this article with?
