Being a college student ain’t always easy. It’s safe to assume that you are probably broke, you’re stressed about upcoming exams, and the idea of “meal prepping” is pretty much foreign to you. But that’s okay! Because you are not the only one who is struggling and luckily, there are always good hacks out there that can help you out.

We recently came across some of the most hilarious tips and tricks that could potentially be useful for every broke college student. See some of the best ones below.

1. Need a trash can?

So you have a ton of trash to throw away, but you don’t own a trash can? No problem. Instead of rushing out to the store late at night, make your own by taking a stool and flipping it upside down. Cover the four legs with your trash bag and boom! Never have to go to IKEA again.

2. Hole in your socks?

No worries! Just identify the naked toe that’s sticking out and paint it the same color as the socks you’re wearing. Then it will blend in and no one will know a thing. Never have to buy a fresh pair of socks again!

3. Craving pasta…

…But you don’t have a pot to boil water in. Again, no problem. Just use your coffee machine and stick the uncooked pasta in there! Sure, half of it will be uncooked but who doesn’t mind a little crunch in their noodle?

4. Can’t afford cups?

Who needs fancy glass anyway! Just take your old plastic water bottles, cut them in half, and poor some wine into it. It’s about to be the hot new trend, we guarantee it.

5. Knives are boring

Only people who aren’t students use knives. Since you’re already studying math or physics or something, use a ruler instead!

6. Curtain hanger

Why not use clothing handers to hang your shower curtain? Sure, it might not be the “prettiest,” but at least people can’t say you aren’t resourceful.

7. Free milk!

Look, we know milk is expensive. Especially if you need to buy oat or almond or any other special milk that is being made these days — those can run anywhere between four and seven dollars! So make it cheaper and easier for yourself and just refill your jug in the school cafeteria. No one will even notice.

8. Candles are way too expensive

And not too mention a total waste of time when things like matches exist. Happy Birthday!

9. Your coffee machine is your best friend

Seriously, you can make anything you want in there — spaghetti, eggs, you name it. If the water in the pot gets hot, feel free to boil stuff in it!

10. Who needs a dustpan?

Just sweep your trash into your other trash. An empty, preferably greasy pizza box might look kind of lame, but it totally does the trick. You’re saving so much money!

11. An alternative to getting a regular job

Instead of working for money, maybe just hope that you have bad neighbors who are willing to litter in your yard.

12. Makeshift hot tub

So you want to sit in a hot tub with your friends, except you don’t actually have a hot tub… No problem! Make your own by filling up a blow-up pool and placing a piping hot can of fire in the center. Dangerous? Well…
