Beware of dog signs are a fairly common thing for dog owners to have, even if their dogs aren’t particularly aggressive.

Quite often such signs prepare a person to come face to face with a ferocious canine but in reality, the dog the signs warn of is a total sweetheart.

Below are 12 clever and/or somewhat useless “Beware of Dog” signs.

The dog is misrepresented by the sign

Sometimes “Beware of Dog” signs will have a picture of a bulldog with a spiked collar on it to illustrate that a dangerous and mean dog is nearby. The dog this sign warns of doesn’t quite match the picture, however.

“Beware of dog” but also be suspicious of cat.

There are not a lot of “Beware of Cat” signs available. This might be because of how stealth they are. You can beware of them, but they’ll still get you.

I also found a funny beware of dog sign. This one was put on my door in the middle of the night. No clue who did it.

Instructions on how you should “beware of dog.”

Most “Beware of dog” signs don’t come with instructions on how to stay safe. This one does, however. Now, instead of just fleeing the area, a person will know exactly what they have to do to avoid trouble. That’s just plain helpful.

The cat is also shady…

Only a cat would decide to lurk ominously behind a “Beware of Dog” sign. It’s the perfect place to lay in wait…

Perhaps not as ferocious as the dog in the picture.

The image of a dog ferociously barking can sometimes strike fear into the hearts of trespassers. A dog sticking out its tongue in pure derp fashion does not do the same.

Beware of Joey.

This is an awesome personalized mat that warns visitors to the home about Joey. It doesn’t appear as though Joey is particularly aggressive, however. It is perhaps not that people need to “beware” of Joey, maybe they just should “Be aware” of Joey. As in, just know that Joey is around. Be aware of Joey.

Beware of the dog.

Most “Beware of dog” signs don’t specify which dog you should be wary of. This sign specifically says “The dog” though, meaning there’s just one and you are looking at them. This dog doesn’t really seem like one anyone has to be concerned with, however.

You don’t need to beware of the dog all the time.

Just because there is a “Beware of Dog” sign on a property doesn’t mean that the dog is always dangerous. A good chunk of the time that dog is just going to be doing dog things like rolling around on the grass.

There should be a size limit on these signs.

There should perhaps be some type of rule that owners of small dogs are prohibited from purchasing these types of signs. The size of this dog does not necessitate a warning of any kind.

Guard dogs on duty.

These two guard dogs might not be taller than your ankles, but they’ll fiercely protect your property.

False advertising.

We don’t think it’s possible for the sweet-looking dog in this photo to ever look as angry as the dog on the sign. He’s just too adorable for that.
