Especially while living with a pandemic hanging over our heads, we all need something to lift our spirits. So, why not look at photos of donkeys? Seriously, these creatures are downright adorable, and loving as well. They’re so amazing that a lot of people have them as pets.

1. I think I’d call her “Freckles”

That gorgeous white fur, big brown ears, and dark spots on her body, I think Freckles is a perfect name for this little gal. She’s just too cute for words. And as you can see, she loves to be petted.

2. It’s nap time

What’s more precious than seeing a baby donkey snuggle up with his favorite teddy bear for naptime? Nothing that I can think of. Sparky is a miniature donkey born in Australia. But what’s even cuter? His owners use the bear to prop up his bottle.

3. He looks like a big ball of fluff

It looks like this guy hasn’t missed a meal. Okay, so he’s a little round in the midsection but that doesn’t take away from him being downright adorable.

4. That look

There are just no words to describe this miniature donkey. Okay, maybe there are — cute, adorable, precious, sweet… By the way, his name is Victory Lap although he goes by “Vic” for short. I’m not sure how a donkey ended up with a name like that.

5. What a stud

This gorgeous fellow is named Little Miracle’s Drummer Boy and he has a half-brother named Flash of Crimson. Although he looks mighty strong and independent, his owners say the two of them are as “thick as thieves.”

6. He’s so beautiful

Is it okay to call a gelding donkey beautiful? Well, he is. His striking features and confident poise make him stand out. What a good-looking fellow.

7. What a keeper

Cue the Music might be young but he’s already making an impression on the ladies. This miniature donkey has a certain swag about him as he trots around the arena. I wonder if he knows how to serenade yet.

8. Now that’s a picture worth 1,000 words

This adorable gal tromping along in a field of flowers doesn’t have a care in the world. With a sweet face like that, I bet she gets pampered a lot. If not, she should be.

9. Are you ready for a smooch?

If so, this little guy is more than willing to oblige. And with a sweet face like that, a little peck would be hard to resist. “Oh, come one, just one kiss.”

10. “I’ll follow you anywhere”

“And just to make sure I don’t get lost I’ll grab hold of your pants with my teeth.” This photo just goes to show that donkeys make great pets. Some people compare their love and loyalty to that of dogs.

11. You mean not everyone takes their donkey shopping with them?

Well, it seems this owner does. Why not? His precious cargo fits perfectly inside the cart. And if the owner’s single, I’m sure they get a lot of extra attention. Well, if they’re married, they probably still get a lot of attention.

12. Nothing unusual here

It’s only a donkey taking a nap in a dog bed. What’s so strange about that? The blanket? That’s a nice touch. After all, it’s important to keep him warm and comfortable. The only thing missing…a stuffed animal.
