Here are 12 top-notch food and drink hacks that everyone can benefit from knowing right now.

1. Puree whatever is past it’s prime

We’re all guilty of buying a huge bag of greens or way more fruit than we can eat in a few day’s time. Rather than waste all that money when they start to go bad, chuck them in a blender to puree and then fill up your ice-tray with flavor-packed, smoothie-ready ice cubes.

This can be done with most of your fruits and veggies and will save you serious money in the long run.

2. Be ready for Margarita time with lime-ice

This is similar to the first tip, but even better because it’s for your cocktails. When you notice your limes or lemons looking a little lack-luster, squeeze out the juice and freeze it in cubes for tasty fresh margaritas to get you through the quarantine cocktail “hour”.

3. Don’t forget to squeeze ’em right

Of course, if you’re going to be squeezing limes and lemons in bulk, it helps to know how to do it right. Slice the citrus in half as you normally would, but also remember to slice a small portion off the end.

Then, stick it in the press face-up for free-flowing juice.

4. Save your parmesan cheese container lid

For those extra boozy days, you might as well go ahead and make your drink spill-proof. Thankfully, the lid from your parmesan cheese container is the perfect size to fit a mason jar.

If you aren’t drinking your booze from a mason jar, you just aren’t doing it right.

5. Up your Oreo game

Cookies? Ice cream? Why not have the best of both worlds with this food hack? Just sink your Oreos in milk or cream until soft and then freeze them solid. BOOM! You’re welcome.

6. Toast your marshmallows

Who says you need a campfire to have roasted marshmallows? Just grab a skewer and roast them right over the toaster. You’ll get a perfect golden brown every time!

Avocados still hard and green? This hack will take care of that in a hurry. Just slip your avos into a beer koozie and they will be ripe within 24 hours.

Did you know that you can screw a mason jar onto the blender attachment instead of the pitcher? Neither did we! Now, you can blend drinks straight into the jar you drink it from and cut back on dirty dishes!

9. Skewers can replace cookie racks

If you don’t have a cookie rack handy, no worries. Just line a dinner plate with skewers and you’re good to go!

Food processors are wonderful, but not everybody has them. If you need to cut some bacon, ham, veggies or other foods quickly, look no further than your pizza cutter. It’s easy to use and makes quick work of it.

11. No more flies in your wine

Booze hacks are the best, and this one is a lifesaver! Keep flies and bees away from your wine or other drinks by using a coffee filter with a hole poked out to fit a straw in. Simple and soooo handy.

12. The perfect flavored French toast

Out of milk? Not a fan of dairy in general? That’s okay. You can make better French toast without it. Just replace the milk in the batter with your favorite flavor of liquid coffee creamer. You will NOT believe what this does for the flavor. Even if you have milk to hand, trust us when we say that you NEED to try this.
