10+ things people won't eat even during the toughest times

With the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping the world, people are buying just about anything and everything. If you’re trying to find toilet paper, milk, eggs, and other staples, forget about it. Making matters worse, a large number of restaurants and bars have closed their doors…at least temporarily.

But even during these trying times, there are certain foods that no one’s stockpiling. Here are 12 of those.

1. Pizza for the health-conscious

If you follow social media posts, you know everyone’s complaining about overeating. But one food no one wants even if they’re incredibly hungry is healthy pizza. Sorry, but one made with a cauliflower crust topped with a mound of broccoli sounds, well, kind of disgusting.

2. Weird flavored hummus

If you choose the right flavor, hummus is really good. And, it’s healthy. I don’t know about you but I haven’t seen a long line of people trying to hoard chocolate hummus. There should be some kind of law against putting those two words together.

3. What? No salt?

If you like chewing on cardboard then they’d be okay. Sure, you still get the crunch but potato chips without salt…what’s the point?

4. Frozen peas

If there’s one vegetable that comes last on everyone’s list, it’s peas. That’s why they’re the only thing left in the frozen vegetable aisle. We suppose if you’re really hungry, we mean desperate.

5. Is it the cinnamon or raisins?

What’s wrong with cinnamon raisin bagels? We always thought they were pretty good. But even in these difficult times, it seems as though no one wants them. We kind of feel a little sorry for them…all alone on the shelf with no other bagels to keep them company.

6. Okay, so St. Patrick’s Day is over

The top meal for St. Patty’s Day is corned beef and cabbage. At that time, you better get what you need from the store quickly or it’ll be gone. But now with the holiday over, stores can’t give corned beef away.

7. Um…no thanks

Something about chicken burrito bowls sold in the frozen food section doesn’t seem right. With restaurants closed, you’d think people would be stockpiling this kind of food but instead, it seems they’re hoping their favorite Mexican food joint will open sooner than later.

8. Chinese soup?

When you think of soup, usually Cream of Mushroom, Chicken Noodle, or Tomato comes to mind. Now, Egg Drop and Won Ton are also delicious. But whatever kind of soup this is — its obviously something anyone wants, even during a pandemic.

9. No sauce is going to help this

There’s nothing better than a yummy pasta dish smothered in sauce. Whether spaghetti and meatballs, ravioli, or lasagna, they’re all comfort foods we love. But pasta made from cauliflower? There’s not a sauce in the world that’ll help.

10. Plenty for vegans

If you’re a vegan, you’ll have no problem finding all kinds of things to eat. But if you’re not, you might need to consider becoming one. At least there’s an ample supply of options. Who knows…you might discover something you like.

11. We thought everyone loved Peter Pan

We can’t speak for Captain Hook but at least Tinker Bell did. But it seems like this brand of peanut butter isn’t ending up in anyone’s grocery cart. That just leaves more for those of us who love it. All of a sudden, I’m hungry for a PB&J.

12. Isn’t this the “other white meat?”

We thought if people couldn’t find chicken, they automatically turned to pork. Well, we were wrong. This is fascinating since, in the United States, pork is the meat people eat the most. We just don’t get it.
