Contrary to what most people think, hydrogen peroxide isn’t limited to hospital use. It can actually be utilized to deodorize, disinfect, clean, and sanitize a couple of things at home. And the best part? It’s inexpensive and highly accessible. You probably already have a bottle at home.
From cleaning your toilet seat to disinfecting makeup brushes, here are some of the best uses of hydrogen peroxide.
1. DIY deodorant
Embarrassed by your body scent? Mask unwanted odor by creating your own deodorant. All you have to do is mix hydrogen peroxide and baking soda until you get a paste-like consistency.
2. Makeup brush disinfectant
Washing your makeup brushes isn’t enough. If you really want to thoroughly clean them, soak the brushes in a bowl of water with 3% hydrogen peroxide.
3. To whiten nails
Take a piece of cotton ball and put a small amount of hydrogen peroxide. Dab it onto your nails to make them look whiter and healthier.
4. A wash for your fruits and vegetables
You’ll never know if the fruits and vegetables you buy from the market and serve to your family are completely safe and free from dirt and pesticides. Considering that, fill your sink with cold water and add about 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide. Wash the items there before rinsing thoroughly with water.
5. A home remedy for yeast infections
A study suggests that hydrogen peroxide can help treat yeast infections. It showed how 89% of its participants were able to be free from the symptoms after douching with 30ml of hydrogen peroxide solution for a week.
Take note that even though there are studies, douching isn’t recommended for everyone.
