12 times people took snow sculptures took the next level
The winter season can be one of the most magical times of the year because of the snow. And when we say snow, we mean snow that has beautifully covered our lawns, yards, parks, and forests.
And when the snow is this beautiful and peaceful, it becomes a fun time to create sculptures with it.
Would you like to see what kind of sculptures people create with snow?
Here are 12 spectacular examples of snow sculptures.
1. Elrond’s Flood
This sculpture was apparently inspired by Lord of the Rings. Do you remember the part where Arwen took Frodo across the river to run away from the Ringwraiths? Elrond commanded a great flood to drown them and a few stallions took the form of the waves.
This sculpture is a representation of that scene. It definitely took a lot of people, a lot of weeks and a lot of patience to sculpt this one!
2. Sea Anemone In Lights
At the 2019 International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge, Colorado, this was one of the sculptures that caught the attention of so many attendees.
Teams from around the world use a 20-ton block of snow to create works of art. And the artists are only allowed to use their hands!
3. Fundraising Snail
Some create snow art and there are sculptors who create snow art for a cause. Austin, Trevor and Connor Bartz have been sculpting snow art since 2012.
“The past 7 years of sculpting has prepared us for creating this intricate sculpture, even with the lack of snow,” the Bartz brothers said.
With the publicity they’ve gotten over the past seven years, they decided to use their love of snow sculpture for a great cause, to encourage their followers to donate to provide clean water in impoverished locations. And at the end of their fundraiser, they were able to raise $30,000! They’re prepping again this year to create another snow sculpture for a cause.
4. Hometown Eagles
This was posted on Reddit by the neighbor of the person who sculpted these eagles. At first look, they seem so real. When you get a closer look though, you’ll definitely see the eagles are definitely made from snow!
5. Snow Castle
Was the Ashina Castle covered in snow? No. This is an actual snow sculpture of a Japanese castle. Reddit users said the definition of majestic was this snow castle. People were simply awed at the sight of it.
6. Christmas Dance
This snow sculpture of a couple dancing perfectly captures the spirit of Christmas, which is also the spirit of love.
“Make this Christmas one to remember. Anything is possible,” the caption read.
Does this sculpture make you believe anything is possible?
7. Snow Animal
This snow sculpture won the 2017 International Snow Sculpture Championships in Colorado. And with good reason! Look at all the details on the chameleon’s body. That’s super challenging to create. Kudos to the artist from Mongolia for creating this amazing snow art!
8. Star Wars Art
Clearly the person who made this sculpture is a big Star Wars Fan. Featuring the At-At Walker from The Empire Strikes Back (and also appeared in Star Wars Episode 2 and 3), they even had their son ride the walker. Can’t believe how strong that sculpture is!
9. Creative Mailbox
This is no ordinary mailbox and it only appears during winter when there’s snow. It’s mail time, open up! This is definitely going to make the mailman hesitate before placing your mail inside.
10. Shark On The Porch
Some of the people who saw this thought Back to the Future came alive with this sculpture. And some thought Jaws the movie has come to life.
There are many people want to create something similar to the snow in their yard but are afraid they lack something this artist has – their creativity.
11. Bah, humbug!
Of course, a winter or Christmas snow sculpture is not complete without a reference to Ebenezer Scrooge. But with this one though, they decided to focus on the Christmas spirit, instead of Scrooge himself. What do you think?
12. Snowball Express
It’s a great snow sculpture homage to the movie, “Polar Express.” Look at all the details on the train! If we didn’t know it was a snow sculpture, we would have mistaken it for a real train and boarded it.
