10+ hysterically savage farewell cakes on employees' last day
For a lot of people, making the decision to move on from a current job is difficult. Especially for those who’ve been with the same company for a long time. Not only are they walking away from responsibilities they’ve become accustomed to, but also all the friends they’ve made over the years.
Depending on the circumstances, some coworkers are excited about their friend’s opportunity. But for others, they have no problem saying, “Don’t let the door hit you in butt…” It’s not so much they don’t like the individual — more that they feel the person’s a traitor for leaving.
It’s common for a company to give someone leaving a nice send-off. That includes cards and the popular farewell cake. The problem is that these special cakes don’t always turn out as planned. These 12 prove that point.
1. Are we a little bitter?
I’m sure deep down inside, this person’s coworkers are happy they found a wonderful job. But then again, you never know. While perhaps not the nicest way to say “goodbye,” there are two positive points here…the cake looks cool and its chocolate.
2. When emotions run a little too high
Surely this message was in jest, or at least I hope so. But it sure sends a mixed signal. On one hand, it’s like a kick out the door but on the other hand, they’re giving the departing person colorful flowers to take with them. I’m so confused.
3. There’s nothing like throwing a temper tantrum
Either the person who made this case is extremely jealous their coworker is moving on to better things or they’re really going to miss them. Regardless, you should never use a cake as part of a tantrum. The blue frosting and orange flowers are a nice touch, though.
4. Sarcastic humor
Perhaps this person is trying to be funny or maybe there’s a hidden meaning behind this. They do get extra credit for choosing one of the most famous cartoon characters of all time as the cake decoration…Bugs Bunny.
5. Still waiting…
If this person had it their way, you’d already be long gone before they cut the cake. The way, there’ll be more for everyone else to enjoy. Personally, I think this individual is dealing with inner turmoil over the thought of their coworker leaving.
6. This farewell cake sums it up
When one person chose to leave their job at a veterinarian clinic, this is the design the staff came up with. Okay, so what’s so bad about a cake that looks like kitty litter with droplets of…well, you know? I’m sure it’s delicious although they may need to eat it while blindfolded.
7. This farewell cake sums it up
Some people have great jobs and work with amazing people. So, for them, they probably will miss those left behind. But I’d say this is generally the exception rather than the rule.
8. Is there just a tad of sarcasm here?
Perhaps the message on this cake is saying the individual has a lot of courage for walking away from their job. On the other hand, it could be more of a “big deal, you quit your job.” We’ll never know…but I’ll admit I’d like to.
9. TMI
Do you get the feeling the person presenting this cake knows a few dark secrets about Darryl? Nah, they probably shared a tropical vacation at one point and the cake is meant as nothing more than a fond memory. Sure, we’ll go with that.
10. I see a lawsuit in someone’s future
Is it just me or do you have a sinking feeling that someone’s going to get into some serious HR trouble? That is, of course, if the cake’s message is real. More than likely, three individuals decided to escape the company at the same time.
11. Awe…that’s so sweet
It’s nice knowing that even as a traitor, people have your back. The individual who quit wanted to pursue a career in farming. At least they didn’t accuse him of being a “big traitor.”
12. Um — I have a question
It’s apparent that everyone’s disappointed that Dave is leaving the company. But what’s with the red … squid, octopuses, jellyfish, or aliens? I think something was missed in translation when ordering this farewell cake.
