10+ people who seriously spiced up their mask game

Wearing face masks in public is now the new norm. Most of us feel a bit silly wearing them, especially as they’re not the most flattering of things. But as they’re essential for staying safe right now, we’re prepared to blend into the background wearing our face masks for the sake of protecting ourselves and others.

And then there are some people who don’t want to blend into the background wearing their face masks. In fact, they’re quite obviously hoping to attract all the attention, and have a bit of fun while they’re at it.

Here are the 12 coolest face masks, as worn by the general public, that you could probably sell for good money.

1. This blingy design

There are some people who try to make everything fashionable, even a pandemic. We’re not going to lie, this is the sort of mask we’d wear to an expensive ball (not that we’ve ever been invited to one). 10 points for style.

2. This creepy FX face-elongation

FX makeup and props have come a long way since the days of eighties horror films, as proven by this slightly disturbing face mask. We’re not sure where the face ends and the mask starts. Either way, we probably wouldn’t hang around this man to find out.

3. This custom painted respirator

Because wearing plan ol’ block-colored respirators is so last year. Fair play to the designer, though – if we had any sort of art skills ourselves, we’d attempt something similar. It’s certainly a striking design.

4. This Thai-inspired piece of art

Who wouldn’t want to look like some sort of ethereal goddess while wearing a mask? This one probably isn’t recommended for supermarket trips, though. Or low ceilings.

5. This Hannibal design

emilyrohm Source: emilyrohm

Some people want to look beautiful in their masks, while others just want to look like a cannibalistic serial killer. We have to admit, it looks pretty impressive. She’s even got the sweater to match.

6. This BMW promo

If you can’t resist advertising what car you drive when you’re not in your car, you can now do so with your face mask. We’re not sure this is entirely necessary. Still, there’s no faulting the design.

7. This Gucci Promo

From one expensive brand to another… This person is representing what must be their favorite designer. Because really, if you don’t buy your clothes on the high street, why would you wear shop-bought face masks?

8. These clear masks

Joking over, we’re seriously impressed with the common sense behind this design. Deaf people rely on lip-reading to be able to understand people in social situations, so these masks are something of a life-saver for them. We’d imagine these will see a surge in popularity.

9. This snakeskin number

Snakeskin is pretty hit-and-miss as it is, and we’re really not sure about this snakeskin face mask. This guy probably isn’t going to be setting any trends with this look.

10. This cute daisy creation

Not all face masks have to be extra, creepy, or over-the-top. This homemade daisy mask is showing us how you can wear a face covering and still look cute. We’ll take 7, please.

11. This sequined party piece

Not many of us are getting up to much partying at the moment, but this mask is still perfect for a night of solitary wine drinking. Grab your drink, dust your ABBA CD off, and prepare to have a good time.

12. This mustache mask

If you’re sad about having to cover up your mustache with your face mask, don’t be – you can wear multiple mustaches on top of your mask. This, er, complex design is bringing a bit of fun to our lives, so we love it. It’s also strangely fashionable.
