10+ time people had no idea what they were looking at and the internet stepped in to help

There’s no question that we live in a strange world. That being said, even though we know things can be weird, we as people also tend to pride ourselves on knowing just what an object is for, strange or not. While most of us can identify millions of items, phenomenons, and abnormalities, every once in awhile something comes along that leaves us scratching our heads as to what it is we’re looking at.

Thankfully, we live in the digital age where it’s easy to upload a quick image and ask the rest of the world for an answer. Some of the best answers come from world-savvy Redditors always aiming to please with an up-votable comment. This, my friends, brings us to our list of 12 times people had no idea what they were looking at, and a Redditor gave them an answer.

1. Are we looking at an alien?

One Redditor asked if this might be a parasite infested worm. Turns out that it is, in fact, a worm, but not just one worm. What you are looking at is two worms trying their best to make some baby worms.

2. It’s not a tea kettle

If you stumble across an old tea-kettle-like object and it’s got a huge opening like this, we beg you, don’t drink tea out of it. According to one Redditor, it is an old men’s urinal. So, if you don’t want to drink from an antique piss-pot, avoid picking one of these up.

3. And this is not a spaceship
but it’s close

Contrary to what you might think, this thing isn’t going to zip up into outer space. @ElliottCoe pointed out that this is actually a bomb-shelter.

“Looks to me like a ww2 one man bomb shelter.”

“Can confirm, there is one on display at the Deutsches Museum in Munich,” replied @lunex.

4. This is actually something people should worry about

A woman said her cleaning lady discovered this gadget beneath her dresser and when she asked what she was looking at, the answer was disturbing.

“This was found by a cleaner hidden under my dresser in my bedroom (she told me very discreetly about this which has me concerned), I’ve tried to google it to no avail. Please help,” ‘she wrote.

“Voice recorder, doesn’t transmit using wireless though so whoever placed this thing there will be back. If this was on your home chances are there are cameras as well,” replied @grovethrone.

5. If you find this, you’ll be happy to know it’s NOT a sex toy

This person was worried he’d found some God-awful sex toy in his Dad’s bedroom. Thankfully for them, though, it was actually just a set of Yak Traks for adding grip to your boots.

6. Alien lights

If you see the sky near your home turn into a brilliant violet just before dawn, don’t worry. You aren’t about to be abducted. Your neighbor is just growing some of the Devil’s lettuce.

“It’s
related to a commercial pot growing operation. That’s the color of grow lights.” – @raineycatz

7. If this is what your neighbor’s yard looks like, it’s time to move

A Redditor said their friend moved into a new flat and the balcony looks out onto her neighbor’s yard. What you’re looking at, though, is more or less a yard-sized voodoo altar.

“My witchy friend says it’s a Voodoo altar, with the central figure being a ‘Dark ancestor.'” -@eridani0x

“Might I suggest some voile curtains to let the light in and keep the nightmares out?” -@Iggy

8. Gifts from the forests

If you find some collectible items cleverly disguised in the woods don’t worry. You aren’t imagining things. This is a little GPS based game called geocaching. You track down treasures in the forest based on coordinates, but the true treasure lies simply in finding the item.

9. Things that look like fishing weights but aren’t

No, these aren’t fishing weights and, believe it or not, they do have a purpose. Way back when mineral deficiencies were as common as cavities, people would drop these iron fish into their water before drinking it. The idea being that the metal fish would infuse the water with iron.

“The solution was to boil chunks of iron with food to increase the iron content but many were skeptical and hesitant to cook with chunks of metal in their food. The iron was shaped into a ‘lucky fish’ that would provided addition health benefits when you boiled water with the fish in it.” -@Gunsandgoodcoffee

10. Tree eggs?

A woman found this disgusting sack of eggs hanging from her tree in Georgia. While no normal person would have a clue about what it is or why it got there, leave it to a Redditor to give the most gruesomely graphic explanation ever. But it’s anyone’s guess, really.

“I’m betting a bird of prey caught itself a pregnant snake and had started tearing into it but flew off with the rest of the snake and this Uterine Tube fell out due to the weight of the eggs.” -@CWreck

11. A cloaked car

While there is no question that this tacky looking car has been wrapped up, it turns out there’s a really good reason for it. To keep you in the dark about what it is.

“It obscures the car while being test driven, so the yet-to-be-released models are not photographed and published. The random “wave” patterns effectively hide the body contours and lines.” -@brock_lee

12. Don’t stare too long

This little contraption takes nosy neighbors to the next level. They are a throwback to pre-telephone days when people still wanted to be in the know with what was going down on their streets, and they’re surprisingly effective.

“In Denmark they are called a “gadespejl” It is an old invention, basically a mirror that made it possible to view the street from the comfort of your couch.” -@wonderboy544

“‘Skvallerspegel’ is what I’ve heard them called in Sweden. ‘Gossip mirror.'” -@norieeega
