10+ terrible tattoos that are hard to look at

The problem with tattoos is that they’re incredibly permanent. That means if you make a bad decision while drunk, the tattooist messes up the design, or you just come to deeply regret your tattoo of choice, there’s not too much you can do about it.

Of course, there is the option of laser removal, but it’s expensive and can leave scarring. Still, we think if we’d ended up with any of the 12 tattoos below, we’d be booking ourselves an appointment as soon as possible…

1. This terrible image of Jesus

Being around in a time when cameras didn’t exist, Jesus’s actual appearance can only be perceived from eye-witness accounts. But one thing’s for sure, we’re pretty certain he didn’t look like this. We can see a strange resemblance to Bob Marley if we squint.

2. This creepy skeleton

It’s just basic common sense: if you’re planning to shoplift, don’t get creepy skeleton bones tattooed onto your face. It’s gonna make it much harder to stay inconspicuous. This look is for temporary face paint only.

3. This annoying jigsaw

MillenialBoi Source: MillenialBoi

We’ve seen the “two pieces to a puzzle” tattoo a few times now, but the frustrating thing about this one is it’s actually illogical. As one commenter points out, two corner pieces would never fit together. It’s basic jigsaw knowledge, come on.

4. This awkward cover-up

Phexkalessin Source: Phexkalessin

What happens when you get your ex tattooed on your body? You cover it up and put your new partner’s name in his place, of course. And again? If need’s be. We wonder how big this tat could be in the end.

5. This strange spelling

Vomitsadface Source: Vomitsadface

We’ve never heard of “pen” and “gain” being rhyming words, but there you go. Mistakes like these make us wonder why some tattooists don’t question what they think their client means if if doesn’t make sense.

6. This old baby

Trusting a tattooist to permanently engrave their version of a photograph onto your skin is a bit like going to the hairdressers with a picture of your favorite celebrity: it just won’t look the same. This is one of the worst we’ve seen- the poor child looks like a granddad.

7. This surprised lion

Beabetterperson Source: Beabetterperson

If anybody watched the “Teletubbies” as a kid, they’ll tell you that the “scary lion” is very similar to what this lion tat looks like. The show’s scary lion lion was creepy, but for all the wrong reasons. And that’s exactly the case with this design.

8. This horrific spider

ChimiAndChill Source: ChimiAndChill

Spiders are bad enough without people tattooing them onto their bodies. We can’t for the life of us understand why this one man thought it was a good ideal to cover his entire face with a giant beast of a thing, shadows and all. Surely his tattooist should have refused this?

9. This masterpiece of a gnome

We’re pretty sure even we could manage to product a more realistic garden gnome than this tat, and that’s saying something. There are so many things that are wrong – the creepy face, the poor shading, the lack of detail… It’s a definite no from us.

10. This weird dedication to Brenda

We have no idea who Brenda is, but she must be a very special lady for this man to dedicate his entire back to her name. If she ever fancies switching up her signature, she’s got plenty of inspiration to choose from.

11. This bizarre Michael Jackson

Michael, we are so sorry. Nobody deserves to be remembered by such a terribly-drawn portrait. There’s no saving this one – it’s probably best to let the pop legend’s memory live on by just listening to one of his tunes. Not to mention, the meaning behind the wording is controversial as anything.

12. And finally…

We think we’ll choose to believe in strength, thanks.
