14-yr-old enters restaurant bathroom to give birth then places newborn in customers arms & takes off

Imagine you’re in a restaurant enjoying your meal when suddenly a teenage girl in a black hoodie walks up to you and hands you a newborn baby before suddenly taking off.

It may sound like a dramatic scene from a movie, but it actually happened to Alease Scott at an El Patron eatery in Jersey City, New Jersey.

She walked up to the counter and asked for help, claiming she found the baby, but it was actually hers.

Frankie Aguilar, one of the restaurant’s employees, told the Jersey Journal that the 14-year-old “kind of looked a little bit desperate.”

He called the police out of concern, but the girl was already long gone by the time they arrived. “Once she handed the baby to someone else, one of our customers, she just left,” he added.

That customer was Alease Scott, who was just trying to enjoy lunch with her boyfriend, Walter Cocca, when she heard the teen’s plea for help.

“I said, ‘Do you mind if I check the baby’s vitals?’ She readily handed the baby over to me so my focus went right onto the baby.”

But before Alease could ask any more questions of the teen, she had already run off.

Instead of cradling a taco, she now found herself cradling an abandoned newborn in her hands.

The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached, which meant it had very recently been born.

Sadly, being given up so quickly by its mother was the infant’s “welcome” into this world.

Do you ever get a funny feeling in the pit of your stomach when something doesn’t seem right?

Both Alease and her partner immediately noticed that it was having trouble breathing, but fortunately, she was trained in CPR and first aid!

When police finally arrived, they came prepared with oxygen and medical gear.

“Once I applied the oxygen mask to the baby, all of a sudden we heard the most beautiful cry and the baby started moving, she slightly opened up her eyes and then she closed her eyes but the sweetest thing was when she got hungry and she was trying to suckle on the oxygen mask so we knew she was OK after that,” Alease said.

There were at least 6 police officers on the scene, and every one of them wanted to find the baby’s mother.

She was likely very scared and in need of medical attention. Thankfully, they were able to track her down, and both mom and the baby are doing well.

New Jersey, like many states, have a Safe Haven Law where a parent or guardian can drop newborns off at hospitals, fire stations, and police stations.

While the eatery is technically not any of these, the teen mom won’t be facing any charges.

“I’m just so happy I was there to help because she just was desperate and didn’t know what to do, she was so young,” Alease said.
