14-year-old wins 1st place on rollerblades with breathtaking performance

As a kid, roller skating rinks were the popular place to be. It was so exciting to see the rink filled with neon colors, hearing music blasting in the background. With wobbly knees, you and your friends would learn how to walk with wheels on your shoes. Trying so hard not to fall on the polished wood floors. While others would be zipping by with their inline skates, you’re wondering how in the world are they doing that?

It’s difficult to learn without falling, but roller-skating has come a long way. Since the first roller skate was debuted in 1760 by John Joseph Merlin. Which was just a metal shoe with wheels! But the skate has definitely changed since then, which later developed a roller skating craze that would captivate people of all ages.

A way for the skaters to show off their skills there are little colored cones placed on the ground so the skaters can weave through each individual cone. Sofia weaves her skates like magic without touching a single cone. If you’ve ever tried inline skating you know just how difficult it is to get the hang of the movement.

Sofia makes it looks like a piece of cake while she balances on just the first wheel while also directing herself through the cones. Sofia’s roller skating skills are no joke. It’s almost hard to watch because you don’t want to see her fall, but she continues to move with grace. When it gets to the cones that are closer together she only scrapes one cone where she lost a bit of balance.

The Comeback

That doesn’t stop Sofia, as she moves fluidly into the next move. Sofia’s marvelous skills won her 1st place in the Junior Female Classic Slalom! We’re sure there was a celebration after that breathtaking performance. Sofia’s passion for skating began at the age of 4-years-old, originally she wished to pursue ice skating but quickly realized it was clashing with her regular school schedule.

A Determined Skater

So she made the decision to put her studies first over training. That’s when Sofia discovered in-line roller-skating and found a way to study and train in-line. Her decision definitely paid off and she continues to win championships all over the world. There are plenty more awards in store for this young skater.
