Anyone can buy a “Beware of Dog” sign to keep intruders at bay. But some people actually have canines, even though they’re nothing to be afraid of.

Of course, even little dogs can be mighty and you should never approach a dog you don’t know, but these 15 adorable animals look pretty silly next to their warning signs.

1. Beware of that face

Just look at that face! Now, look at the face on the sign behind him.

Not much in common, right?

Maybe he is a ferocious guard of the family home – and we sure hope no one finds out the hard way by snuggling that sweet face.

2. Golden menace

There’s nothing less scary than an aging Golden Retriever.

This sweet pup looks like the most ferocious thing he’s even done is take a long nap.

3. Beware of ankles

Now here’s a dog that means business. That steely gaze. That laser focus.

We have no doubt that this canine will come for any strangers who get too close. We’re just not sure how much damage can be done.

4. This goofball

He sure is a tripping hazard! Maybe that’s what the warning is all about.

But other than being caught up all day giving belly rubs, we don’t see anything for an intruder to be afraid of.

5. At the risk of kisses

Look at that happy little face! Does the heart of a monster beat inside that furry chest?

Probably not.

In fact, we want to come into the yard even more after seeing this cute pup.

6. Face framing

This dog’s owners created the perfect photo op by posting this sign above a hole just large enough for their sweet little dog to poke his or her head through.

But those eyes do look pretty serious.

7. Beware of slobber

Could this dog scare you off? Certainly – but not looking like this!

Looks like someone caught him just in time to get the perfect photo.

8. Small but mighty

You can tell by this dog’s face that it means business.

To be fair, the barking alone would alert anyone around to possible intruders.

9. Cuteness attack

That is one ferocious attack dog – maybe someday.

Nah. This little snuggle bunny looks like he just wants to love.

10. The real guardian

Ok, now we’re scared.

Can a cat do as much damage as an attack dog?

Not so much. But it sure can give us a look that makes us think twice. Or three times, in this case.

11. False advertising

The sign promises something much more ferocious than this puffball.

Who wouldn’t want to enter at their own risk after seeing this face?

12. Wary

This dog is just daring you to come in.

Don’t judge it by it’s coiffed hair, take a look in those eyes.

13. Beware of puppy!

You can tell by the size of those paws that he’ll be intimidating someday.

But today is not that day.

14. (Im)proper signage

We’re starting to think these signs would be a lot more effective if the dogs weren’t visible.

15. I got your sign!

He might steal your shoes, but we’re pretty sure this pup can be distracted with something shiny or a few scratches behind the ear.

Good thing they didn’t hang that sign yet!

Hopefully, it goes without saying that you should never approach a dog you don’t know, no matter how cute it is. You never know how a dog has been raised or trained.

But that doesn’t stop us from wanting a big snuggle from some of these “guard” dogs.
