Most people know very little about alpacas. Well, now you know that they love to wear really cool hairstyles.

An alpaca is like a llama, except that it’s much smaller. Basically, think of alpacas as donkeys and llamas as horses.

Alpacas and llamas can even breed, much like donkeys and horses. Just like mules, an alpaca and llama hybrid, a huarizo, is sterile.

But they also do some strange, yet cute things.

For instance, when a mother alpaca gives birth to a baby, the mother and the baby hum to each other. Alpacas also snort, grumble, cluck, scream and screech. Weird, huh?

And alpacas may have the best fleece of anything in the animal kingdom.

Most people think that sheep wool is a great material. But alpaca wool is even better, even before it’s all sheared off. These photos prove it:

Who knew that alpacas could all look so different!? It’s hard to believe that all of the images in this article are of the same species of animal, and yet they are. Clearly, the world is a much brighter place thanks to alpacas!
