1. Golden Retriever

Grace Gogarty began teaching herself art at 9 years old. Her first experience with drawing was on Microsoft paint.
2. Border Collie

“My illustration style arose organically, taking art I loved apart and rebuilding it,” said Gogarty “I really spent a lot of time trying to draw realistically and studying life before I realized I’d rather just break the rules on purpose,” she says
3. Bernese Mountain Dog

She calls her style “intentionally unpolished”. “I think things that are ‘wrong’ and unpolished are a bit more interesting, personable, and fun,” she said. “I’m a messy person and I try to reflect that in my cartoons.”
4. Boxer

Gogarty says she likes drawing animals because of how emotionally honest they are. “I like their honest emotions and how different they are from me, while still having way more in common than I’d care to admit,” said Gogarty.
5. Akita

Gogarty was introduced to many dog breeds while working as a supervisor at a doggy daycare. That’s when she got the idea to illustrate descriptions of each breed’s characteristics.
6. Chihuahua

Gogarty’s art reiterates some canine stereotypes — and dismiss others. She says she enjoys drawing all kinds of breeds.
7. Dobermann

From long-faced dogs to the squished-up snouts of bulldogs, the physical variations of every breed makes drawing dogs “a unique challenge.” Gogarty is a passionate vegetarian whose first word was “dog!”
8. Labs

But whenever she thinks of drawing a dog, the first breed that pops in her head is the yellow Lab. She says she loves the happy look of yellow Labs AKA “food machines”.
9. Bulldog

“I also love any dog with a bit of chub and some good neck folds,” she said. Gogarty’s drawings are both comical and truly hysterical.
10. Pug

Gogarty says her art is about enjoyment. “I’ve found the idea matters more than the material,” she said.
11. Great Dane

She uses cheap mediums such as printer paper and watercolors. She buys them from dollar stores!
12. German Shepherd

“I’ve had a lot of people tell me my art is ugly in a charming way, and that’s great because that’s how I see life,” she said. “I love giving attention to the beauty in ugliness.”
