Our dogs are wonderful, to be sure, but that doesn’t mean that they’re our perfect little angels. As anyone who’s ever owned a pup can tell you, sometimes they like to get up to no good. Their curious nature leads them to terrorize our shoes, our furniture, food, and sometimes even the neighbor.

Once in awhile though, their mischievous minds get so carried away that we are able to catch them in the act. If the evidence weren’t enough to incriminate them, the guilty look written all over their faces is sure to do the trick. Here is a list of 15 of the most notoriously guilty dogs caught in the act red-handed.

1. Stealing from grandma

Has there ever been a more guilty look in animal-committed crime history? We don’t think so. This dog’s grandma returned to find her grand-pup paws-deep in her purse. Something tells us that all was forgiven when she saw that look of his though.

2. “You…weren’t supposed to see this”

Hey, look, sometimes a dog’s gotta do what a dog’s gotta do. He would have been better off owning up to the stuffed animal slaughter, though. That fresh white beard of his is a definite giveaway.

3. The pillow attacked him first

You can always trust one thing about your pooch. That thing is that you can’t trust them alone, ever. At. All. But hey, at least he left his owner a pillow to cry into later. Memory foam, on the other hand, never forgets.

4. He hasn’t seen the cat all day

Okay, so this dog’s not showing his guilt so much as trying to pull a fast one on his humans. Cat? What cat? Haven’t seen him all day…

5. “Wait! Let me explain…”

This dog thought he could get away with climbing on the bed and jumping at the window when his humans weren’t around. He soon realized that the blinds always win. He’s guilty for sure but we gotta say, depending on how long he was caught up like that, we think his humans should give him time-served as punishment.

6. Guilty and he’ll never drink again

This doggo’s sign says it all. Fortunately for him, we’ve all been there. Even the shaming seems to just go hand-in-hand when it comes to getting loose with your liquor. At least he’ll probably think twice before getting into mom and dad’s hooch again…or their chocolate.

7. Sometimes guilt looks a lot like pride

A look of definite guilt doesn’t always necessarily mean that they’re sorry. Something about this sly dog’s smile says she’s fully guilty and not even the least bit remorseful. That’ll show her human not to ignore her for the TV again.

8. “Um, you weren’t supposed to be home today…”

Sometimes when a dog gets a hankering for a good steak, there’s just nothing that will stop them from getting it. Not even a completely sealed, full-sized refrigerator. We hope he had his fill because something tells us he didn’t get any treats that night.

9. Like a pearl in a clam

Sometimes when a dog is caught red-handed doing something that’s a definite no-no, they look so adorable it’s hard to even get mad. You might feel differently when you’re footing the bill to reupholster your furniture but, really, pictures like this are worth it.

10. Guilty and unashamed

There doesn’t seem to be any question that this doggo had a hay day ripping his parent’s feather-filled pillows to shreds. He may be guilty but he’s also clearly pleased with himself, and how can you stay mad at a face like that? Best to just grab a cushion and have a pillow fight with your furbaby.

11. “Wasn’t me!”

This cutie’s owner knows she’s guilty, but he’s having a hard time getting a confession. Look at her try to play it off like her dad’s crazy. This, my friends, is how you plead the fifth.

12. Don’t judge her, she has her reasons

Have you ever taken a peek at prices for obedience school?! Don’t judge a dog by her coat. She’s just using the talents she has to make a way for herself.

13. “That flour has nothing to do with my face…”

This dog could almost pull off that innocent look of hers if her face weren’t covered in flour…right next to a Bob’s Red Mill flour bag torn open on the floor, no less. She might have a hard time earning back her humans’ trust after this one.

14. Finders Keepers

Sometimes you don’t need to see your dog’s face to know they’re 100% guilty. Sometimes you catch them as they’re proudly prancing across the yard with your garden shoe in their jaws. Sometimes, you see it every week for 10 years, like this dog’s owner.

15. “I thought it was gonna taste better than that…”

Ah! Those deceptively tasty-looking cucumbers can be quite the grimace-maker. Judging by that terribly remorseful look on his face, we think he’s already gotten his punishment for eating things he shouldn’t. All we can say is, hopefully, he’s a fast learner.
