15 ways to use vinegar that will definitely improve your life

Vinegar may be wine that’s gone bad. But in many ways, it’s much more useful than wine. Sure, it won’t get you drunk, yet it will make your life better in other ways.
Everyone knows that vinegar is a great cleaning product. It’s also great with certain foods. But there are so, so many interesting ways to use it.
In fact, the 15 vinegar uses below will make you believe that it’s nothing short of a miracle substance!
1. Insect repellant

If you have ants and other creepy crawlies invading your home, just fill up a spray bottle with vinegar and apply it to windows, doorways and anywhere else that bugs can get in. The critters will find some other house to bother!
2. Make house painting easier

If you’re going to paint a wall, you should first wipe it down with a cloth soaked in vinegar. It’ll degrease the wall and remove any stains that could show up through the paint.
3. Preserve the color of your clothing

It’s always annoying when clothing fades after going into the laundry. To prevent your clothes from losing their colorful vitality, simply soak them in vinegar before putting them in the washing machine.
4. Unclog drains

Instead of buying an expensive drain opener, pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain. Then pour half a cup of vinegar into the drain. It should bubble up. Once the bubbles have stopped forming, pour hot water into the drain.
5. Turn milk into buttermilk

If you need to make something with buttermilk, but you’ve only got regular milk, you don’t need to pick some up at the store. Instead, you can just add a tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of milk. When the milk starts curdling, whisk it and it’ll be buttermilk.
6. Fluff up rice

If your rice tastes too stiff, it’s because you’re not adding vinegar (or you undercooked it.) To make it fluffy, add a teaspoon of vinegar just when the rice boils.
7. Stop a dog’s ear itch

If your dog is scratching their ears too much, you might be able to fix it by washing the back of their ears with a cloth dipped in vinegar.
8. Stop cheese from going bad

It’s always a shame when cheese goes all moldy. To make cheese last longer, wrap it in a cloth that’s been dipped in vinegar. Then put the cloth wrapped cheese in an airtight container and put it in the fridge.
9. Keep part of your home cat free

Cats are their own bosses. But if you have a kitchen surface that you want kept cat free, then just spray it with vinegar.
10. Remove skunk smell from dogs

No one is surprised that skunks stink, except maybe curious dogs. If your dog ends up smelling like skunk, just wash him or her with an equal mixture of vinegar and water.
11. Remove foot fungus

Most people get athlete’s foot at some point. To get rid of it, soak your feet in an equal mixture of water and vinegar for 15 minutes twice daily. After the soak, dry your feet thoroughly!
12. Make stings less itchy

Bee and wasp stings are especially annoying, because they itch so much. To make them less itchy, apply to vinegar to the sting.
13. Keep frost from forming on your windows

Scraping frost from a car window is so annoying. Prevent your windows from frosting over by wiping them with vinegar in the evening.
14. Stop eggshells from cracking while boiling

Just put a tablespoon of vinegar into a boiling pot, and the eggs won’t move around and knock into each other as they boil.
15. See if your soil has alkaline

If you get a small sample of your soil and add half a cup of vinegar, you can see whether or not it has alkaline. If the soil/vinegar starts bubbling, then there’s alkaline in the soil.
