15 times kids reminded us that there's still hope for the world

The heart of a child is a precious thing. They haven’t been beaten down by the things that life throws at us, and often, their innocence is inspiring. When a kid does something kind, we can be sure that it’s selfless because they aren’t thinking about how they can leverage that action. Looking at the kindness of children is a great way to have a bit of a “hope injection” in a time of need. Check out some of these amazing stories, for a start!

1. Talked off an edge

These kids didn’t use fancy words to “trick” a man into stepping off a ledge; they just talked to him. Sometimes, all someone needs is someone to listen. These kids deserve all the awards possible!

2. Big brother

Big brothers are supposed to be the ones who look out for their siblings. Is this not the perfect example of that? This kid is little, but his heart is HUGE – not to mention his courage.

This little kid comes every day, just to make sure this woman wakes up from her naps. What a reality check! He just likes sitting and talking with her, 4-5 times a day. She probably looks forward to every conversation!

Any dog that looks good is more likely to get adopted. This kid loves to hand-make bowties and put them on the dogs at the shelter who need them the most. I’m not crying, you are!

5. Making mama cry

When kids get older (especially with boys), they tend to show less affection towards their parents. To a certain extent, that’s normal. Still, little reminders like this for a mom sometimes make all the difference.

6. Cross his heart

A promise is a promise. When Ben made the promise that he would go to Prom with Mary in 4th grade, he stuck to it. Many people would have hoped she would forget or tried to ignore her because of her Downs Syndrome, but not Ben. Be like Ben.

Little Tiernan McCready saw three guys grab an 18-year-old girl and try and pull her into a van. Instead of being frozen in fear or running, he started shouting at the men, causing them to let go and run away. He was awarded a badge of honor!

8. Pure innocence

These two hadn’t seen each other in a LONG time since daycare closed down. After the parents organized a playdate, they had a blast. This was them when they were told that it was time to leave :(

Being there for someone during a tough time is often the most you can do. For this little girl, standing with her 4-year-old brother while he was sick from his chemo was what she could do, so she did.

This whole class of little kids learned how to sign “happy birthday” for Mr. James, a man who works at the school. He is deaf, and when he saw it, he broke down.

11. Double duty

This little boy isn’t just standing there. He gave up his seat to a woman and her baby. On top of that, when his mom was falling asleep, he took her bags and is using her hand as a cushion while she sleeps so she doesn’t hit the bare railing.

12. Partners in crime

You can read this for yourself. Honestly, we all want to be the kind of family member that Auntie Franny is. I do, at least!

13. A strong recommendation

First, if you are frustrated with someone for not speaking your language well, you need a better hobby. Second, if you saw this on your Uber driver’s seat, you better complement that man’s English!

14. Little bro duties

This kid is ADORABLE. His big bro is a marine, so when he was away, he took his place. He even dressed up in a little military outfit to look “manly” next to her!

15. A literal lifesaver

This kid goes out and feeds an elderly homeless man in Yemen. The kid is only fourteen and uses HIS OWN PAYCHECK to provide the food for them. That is a true hero.
