16-year-old sings powerful "I Dreamed A Dream" remix to his mom in the car
The global pandemic of COVID-19 has left our world swallowed with anxiety. While the world has been quarantined for almost two months people have been going through waves of emotions. As we’re advised to socially distance ourselves we’ve lost a connection with the people around us. Thankfully technology has actually brought us closer during this time of solitude.
Our social media platforms have allowed us to release bottled emotions and even helps us relate to others who feel the same way.
This 16-year-old named Nick Sutton like us all was feeling a mass of emotions due to the shake that the coronavirus has had over our lives. So like any talented singer/songwriter, he created a song to express his immense emotions during this time.
Nick rewrote the famous Les Miserables song “I Dreamed A Dream” with lyrics that describe the pandemonium of COVID-19.
While Nick and his mom were on a little drive it right before quarantine went into effect Nick thought it was the perfect time to record his remix. The song he created is a lyrical masterpiece as he illustrated everyone’s emotions during these dark times so vividly.
Nick began the song paints a picture of what life was life before the strike of COVID-19 and later describes the impact of what our reality is today.
Nick’s lyrics depict the realness of what our entire globe is going through while he sings,
“I dreamed that we could go outside
Without the threat of COVID looming
We’d walk around so unafraid
Go out to eat for our enjoyment
We’d work at jobs and then get paid
But soon we’d file for unemployment”
As we all struggle to grasp this disconnected world, songs like this make us feel less alone.
It’s important that we all stay positive in these moments where we feel so helpless. The best thing we can do is come together (6ft apart of course) and express our fears and hopes with people who understand. Mental health is crucial during a time where being outside isn’t the safest.
Nick’s heartfelt song is extremely true and still reminds us that there is hope.
“And still I dream I’ll see my friends
And we will all hang out together
When this contagion nightmare ends
With joyful songs and sunny weather”
This car ride concert between mother and son is truly powerful. Nick’s voice holds such a soothing and honest tone, and his mother must be so proud of her son’s undeniable talent. Nick’s effortless ability to remix the remarkable Les Miserables is incredibly bold.
Nick gives the famous song plenty of justice while also creating such a well-resonated message.
During these heavy times, it’s important that we know to stay hopeful. No one is alone in this and although we may be going a tad stir-crazy it’s best to see the light in all of the darkness. Nick’s song is truly an astounding piece and you won’t want to miss his epic remix.
