Brave teen shoves huge bear off wall in the backyard to protect her dogs
How many of us could say that we’ve fought off a bear?
These creatures grow up to hundreds of pounds and can take us down in one swipe. Wildlife authorities have always cautioned us not to go near these animals because chances are, we might not be able to survive the encounter.
But what if the bears are in our homes? What if they’re threatening our loved ones? What would you do?
A viral video circulated around the internet showed a 17-year-old girl fighting a bear.
Yes, you read that right, the girl came in between the bear and her dogs just by the wall of the Bradbury residence.
The video shows a bear traversing the wall of their home along with her cubs. They were looking for food when the family’s dogs spotted the bears.
The dogs quickly sprang into action barking and lunging at the bear. The animal felt threatened and swiped at one of the dogs.
Just then, a young girl charged into the scene and to the dogs’ rescue.
The bear was attacking the dogs when all of a sudden, Hailey Morinico didn’t even hesitate to push the bear to the other side of the wall.
She then herded the dogs to go inside, and of course, it’s always the smaller ones who pick a fight. She picked up the smaller dogs who stood behind just as the bear climbed back up the wall.
They all ran into the safety of their house while the bear went the other way.
Only people who are out of their minds can pull off such a thing.
As it turns out, Morinico was so pumped with adrenaline that she admitted she wasn’t “in the right mind” when she did what she did.
“I didn’t know I had it in me, to be honest. Who does that? Who in their right mind pushes a bear?” she recalled to Good Morning America.
Her mother also couldn’t believe what her daughter did.
Seeing your daughter in danger will always be horrifying, and seeing that “danger” in form of a bear is something else entirely.
Morinico only sustained minor injuries during the encounter but her story and her experience is far from a “minor incident”. She survived with only a sprained finger and scratches on her knees.
In one of her interviews, she said that her reaction was instantaneous.
By the time she got to the dogs, one of them, Valentina, was “literally off the ground”. She had only a couple of seconds to think and the first thing that popped into her head was to push the bear off the ledge.

She also shared that Valentina was her mother’s emotional support animal so she did what she had to do to save her from danger.
Experts said that she’s lucky to be alive.
Fighting off a bear could end up in different ways. Authorities remain adamant that people don’t engage these animals and should remain inside their homes or at a safe distance should a bear enter a residential area.

“Do not push bears,” Morinico, dubbed as the dog mom of the year by one commenter, said in an interview. “Don’t do what I did. You might not have the same outcome.”
