2-year-old recites undeniably adorable version of 'Pledge of Allegiance'

Thereā€™s nothing cuter than babies and toddlers coming home from kindergarten with new skills to show off. While this stage of a childā€™s life is admittedly more focused on playing in the sandpit and sticking things together with PVA glue, thereā€™s still the opportunity to learn a few things to impress mom and dad.

Anyone who has a good memory will recall reciting the ā€œPledge of Allegianceā€ as a little kid during kindergarten. Itā€™s only on reflection that we realize just how adorable this must be for teachers to witness.

One little boy, the two-year-old son of Lacey Holmes, broke the cuteness scale when his mom filmed him reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in his family home.

Lacey shared the video to Facebook for her friends to watch, but it turned out the entire internet would take a look, too ā€“ and they couldnā€™t get enough of it.

Of all the things youā€™d expect a little kid to willingly perform, the Pledge of Allegiance probably doesnā€™t come up tops. Pop songs? Yes. Nursery rhymes? Definitely. A patriotic pledge to the American flag? Not so much.

But this little boy clearly knows his stuff, because he manages to recite the Pledge of Allegiance word for word! Sitting on his living room floor in a charming truck shirt, he even looks the part, with his hand over his heart, all ready to go.

Lacey starts recording and prompts her chubby-cheeked son to begin.

And thatā€™s all it takes! In his tiny, squeaky voice, Lacey ā€˜s son recites the lines from start to finish. His gaze is on something just off camera ā€“ perhaps an American flag? ā€“ and he absolutely nails his recital.

What makes this video so darn adorable is how the little boy pronounces his words. Letā€™s face it, some of the words in the Pledge of Allegiance arenā€™t the most child-friendly, so we donā€™t blame the toddler for pronouncing ā€œindivisibleā€ as ā€œin-di-bis-dibleā€. In fact, it just makes the whole thing even cuter!

Weā€™re sure that Francis Bellamy, who penned the original Pledge of Allegiance, would be proud to hear this little boy reciting his words ā€“ though the Pledge itself has changed ever so slightly over the years.

While in 1892, the Pledge first read: ā€œI pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it standsā€¦ā€, of course, nowadays, it now reads: ā€œI pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands.ā€ A bit wordier, but we have to admit, it has a better ring to it!

Lacey probably hoped to bring happiness to her Facebook friendsā€™ news feeds with her video, but never could she have expected it to take off like it did. After people began to share the video and tag their friends, it travelled across the virtual world and went viral. It has since received 120,000 views and counting!

Someone else commented:
