These 20 animals can hold a yoga pose better than most humans
Whether you love to involve animals in your yoga practice (think goat yoga) or you just have no choice because your cat climbs on you anyway, you’ve probably seen animals in the room while people do yoga, but not an animal actually holding a pose.
However, lots of animals like to mimic humans – and sometimes they show us that there’s a reason some of these poses are named after them.
Take a look at these 20 funny creatures showing humans how yoga is really done.
1. Upward-facing dog
Well, we suppose it’s only fair that this pup’s up dog is better than ours.
It was named after his kind.
2. Pug splits
We’re still working on our splits and using a block to get better every day.
But not this little guy.
He’s already got great flexibility and form.
3. Like this?
Looks like mom needs some more practice.
This dog, however, has it all figured out.
4. Me-YOW
That’s one happy baby!
We’ve been in yoga classes where humans can’t even grab their feet for this pose.
5. Namaste
This is otter-ly adorable.
We would be compelled to bow back to this creature.
6. Partner yoga
Ever wanted to try partner yoga but your human partner doesn’t have the desire or the balance to work out with you?
Next time just grab yogi’s best friend!
7. Core power
Oh, c’mon!
Even this dog has better core strength than we do. AND better balance!
We’re duly humbled (and really impressed by this canine pawstand)!
8. Turtle training
Even the TURTLE’S upward-facing dog is better than ours?
Now we’re jealous.
It’s my first cake day. I dont have a cat, but I do have a tiny turtle that likes to do yoga from r/aww
9. Om
This monkey has more chill than we’ll ever have.
It’s now our zen role model.
10. We can’t bear it
Ok, so bears are a lot stronger than us, but did this one really have to show us up with perfect form too?
Plank pose is hard enough without having such tough competition.

11. Learning to fly
“Supermans” are great for your back!
Looks like this sweet pup is working out the kinks.
12. Checking his form
It’s important to make sure you’re not overdoing it or getting off-center when doing backbends.
This canine’s cobra pose is looking spot-on.
13. Look what I can do!
Ok, now we’re doubly distracted.
Maybe this feline is just tired of only having one pose named after it while dogs have two.
14. The most important pose
Have you ever fallen asleep in savasana?
You’re not alone!
15. Plowing through
We can’t tell if this cat is happy about its plow pose or not.
It needs to work on form, but it’s almost there!
16. Beach bliss
Well, technically there is a seal pose that looks similar, but we’re pretty sure these guys were going for upward-facing dog.
And they’re rocking it!
17. Peaceful dreams
Wow. This cat is ten times more flexible than we are even in its sleep.
18. Beautiful bonobo
Leave it to our closest relative to nail this pose.
Maybe we can get her to teach us.
19. When you need an assist
Goat yoga has been trending for a few years, but it looks like these goats are doing more than just being cute.
This one is helping a yogi stretch out – or else trying to prevent him from leaving class before savasana.
20. The whole shebang
Well, if you’ve ever promised yourself you’d start the day with sun salutations and then punked out, just know this dog manages to keep up with it’s routine.
We feel humbled by all the animals out there getting their yoga on.
