Since the passing of the great Grumpy Cat (aka Tardar Sauce) the world has been looking for a new feline messiah of misery.

And while no one can replace her (and rumor is she was a real sweetheart), there are plenty of adorably cranky-looking cats on the Internet just waiting to be found.

We’ve discovered 20 pouting pussycats who are probably as sweet as can be, but certainly don’t look it.

1. Boo

Boo is an 11-year-old Silver Mackerel tabby cat capable of a serious snarl.

But you know with a nickname like “Picklepuff” this Jersey girl is probably sweet as can be.

2. Rasputin

Rasputin is a Persian kitty whose haircut recently revealed quite a cranky face.

While his fur is slowly growing back, his frown remains the same.

3. Juno

Juno’s biography lists him as 75% Himalayan, 25% Burmese, 100% Handsome.

And he looks 100% crabby as well, but maybe that’s just the hat.

4. Unknown surlypuss

We just want to snuggle this serious-looking kitten because it looks seriously soft as well.

But something tells us it would not be amused with the attention.

5. Merlin

Merlin is a Ragdoll cat with some intense blue eyes.

And yes, they’re staring into your soul and judging it.

6. Krumben

This cat’s nickname is “Krummy” for short, but it’s a term of endearment.

7. Zosia

Zosia is still a kitten and she lives in Warsaw, Poland.

Not every photo of her is cranky but we’re loving her serious side-eye in this snap.

8. Reinhardt

This Siberian cat from Vancouver is one of the most majestic beasts we’ve ever seen.

Normally, he looks pretty friendly, but we almost prefer the steely glare.

9. Dolph

Dolph and his brother Dan are British shorthairs who live in Germany.

We think this is Dolph, but we’re almost afraid to guess because we feel like we’d be in some serious trouble if we got it wrong.

10. Brian

Brian is a 2-year-old exotic shorthair who lives with two similarly frowny brothers, Waldorf and Bernard.

If you like sweet cats who look perpetually disappointed in humanity, it’s an Instagram we highly recommend.

11. Flakes

This is Flakes and sibling Snow – they’re both Ragdoll cats.

Flakes is a tad crankier, as you can see, but both are completely adorable.

12. Neko

Neko is a British shorthair with a seriously grumpy face.

In fact, Neko will glare even while getting attention, which is impressive – and hilarious.

13. Ceasar

Caesar is an 11-year-old kitty from Eskilstuna, Sweden who looks angry all the time.

Fortunately, there’s no real reason for it as he seems like a pretty happy cat most of the time.

14. Bartolo

Bartolo looks pretty darn annoyed most of the time, even with the edges of his mouth turned upwards.

There’s something about those eyes that makes this Italian cat look extra intense.

15. Louis

Louis is a 7-year-old Himalayan cat living crankily in Ontario, Canada.

While his bio says he has “many moods,” you certainly can’t tell them apart by looking at his funny scowl.

16. Rhia

Rhia not only looks cranky, but she looks like she is constantly planning world domination because she’s so darn disappointed with humans.

17. Meow Meow

Meow Meow is a very sweet cat despite being the Internet’s new grumpy darling.

She’s about as close to Grumpy Cat as you can get – but she’s earning a reputation all her own these days.

18. Chattitude

We don’t know if “Chattitude” is this beautiful Maine Coon’s real name or just it’s Instagram handle, but either way it’s pretty fitting.

The feline is new to Instagram and so far NOT enjoying this quarantine.

19. Minerva Palfrelyon

Minerva is a Persian rescue who lives in Manchester, England.

She’s nearly 4 years old but she’s got enough crankiness to last all 9 lives.

20. Leo

If you’ve made it this far, your prize is a glimpse at the majestic Leo.

Leo lives with two less cranky-looking cats and a dog but he is clearly in charge of being grumpy for everyone.
