20 essential camping hacks from Dollar Tree
Is there anything purer than going camping? Just surrounding yourself with nature, with your partner, or with friends, can be an absolutely amazing experience. Of course, you’ll need some items to bring on your camping trip – a tent, for starters.
However, there are also a number of other items that can be considered essentials for a camping trip, and they don’t exactly have to be all that expensive. We’ve compiled a list of twenty items you can find in your local Dollar Tree store that will definitely come in handy.
1) Double functionality canteen
These canteens are simple, yet genius. It has a two-in-one function: the top of the canteen holds your water (or something stronger, if you prefer), while you can simply unscrew the bottom part with your hand which then turns into a drinking cup.
2) Shower caps
These are absolutely essential during any trip. Wrap up food bowls to protect them from insects, or use them for your dirty shoes or clothing. They don’t break the bank either!
3) Jumbo clothespins
With clothespins or clothe hangers, you can just hang all of your stuff on a line. Or perhaps you can use it to secure your table cloth if there’s a little bit of wind.
4) Night flashlights
When you have to go to the bathroom at night, you’ll definitely want to have a little bit of light. These headlamps and fleshlight are absolutely perfect, and they come in all sorts of fun shapes for your kids too.
5) First aid items
You never know what happens when you go camping – first aid may be necessary. Stack up in the dollar store before you go camping. Better safe than sorry!
6) Glow sticks
Another great item at night. Is your group going separate ways? Hand each other a glowstick to find each other more easily. Or put them outside of your tent for some extra visibility.
7) Solar lights
If you want to be a little bit more sustainable, you can also ditch the glow sticks and opt for these solar or portable lights instead.
8) Frisbee
This seems pretty self-explanatory, doesn’t it? Well, aside from playing with them, they actually have another great purpose. Use them as a holder for your paper plates, and you’ll eat much more comfortably.
9) Stackable pill containers
If you need to bring a lot of medication on your trip, this is a no-brainer. Or perhaps you can use them in the kitchen? These stackable containers are excellent to store herbs or spices in.
10) Squeeze bottles
You can prepare some food beforehand (such as pancake batter, or perhaps some cracked eggs) and put them in these squeeze bottles for easier storage and transportation. You’ll also probably make less of a mess when cooking.
11) Storage caddy
Grab one of these storage caddies from the store for a place to store all of your camping utensils, or your shower bottles and bathroom items such as toothpaste and brushes.
12) Laundry hamper
Use one of these pop-up and foldable laundry hampers to make sure that all of your dirty laundry remains in the same place. You won’t really need this if you’re going on a one-day trip, but it’s definitely useful for longer camping adventures.
13) Pool noodles
Pool noodles can prove to be pretty useful when you cut them in half – you can stick them directly on the tent ties, for example, or use them for your toilet bucket. At a dollar apiece, you can’t really hesitate either.
14) Loofahs
It’s pretty nice when everyone on the trip has their own little loofah, and they don’t exactly take up a lot of weight or space.
15) Toilet paper tubes

18) Kitchen mitts and towels
