We all regret certain “looks” from our past. Whether it was a teenage phase or a ridiculous fashion trend that we hopped on, our photos often keep the evidence for all to see, years later. With the advent of social media, things are ripe for digging up regrettable photos! These people decided to, despite their shame, post theirs. We now get to laugh (or cry) at them.

1. Yikes bro

This photo is something that you think is hilarious when you are 13, and then someone pulls it out years later and you physically feel your heart melt. This poor guy. Even the camera he used is creepy.

2. Unrecognizable

When the guy IN this photo saw it again, years later, he had no idea who it was. It just goes to show that we try and block painful memories from our pasts. This truly is painful.

3. It’s called fashion

This girl was rocking two different styles. First, she was into the punk look (as you can see from her hair). She also had an affinity for… space necklaces?

4. Her mom was right

When this girl went to take this school photo, her mom said she would regret it. From what we can tell, she probably does. Those *poofs* of hair are something else.

5. Hippie convention

This baby was probably conceived at a shroom convention or something. My guess is that they throw in the word “divine” in way too many sentences and love other people’s “energy”.

6. Guitar hero

This guy is a legend AND a hero. He probably just completed “Through the Fire and the Flames” on the hardest difficulty and this is his celebratory moment.

7. Willy Chonka

Incredibly, this kid was going to his highschool prom. Rumor has it that he had to stop and pick up some ‘loompas on his way in, however. Even better is the fact that he had a date.

8. Takes after her mom

This girl was the standard of beauty for so many 13-year-olds with studded belts back in the 2000s. What a time to be alive. Now all those girls work at Spencer’s.

9. The weird kid

This was the kid who didn’t just like the wizard books, he believed in them. His personality was Naruto and he ran to lunch with his hands behind his back.

10. Jazzercize

This one is respectable. This girl just wanted to look like the people that her mom followed along with on television. She pulled it off, for sure.

11. Wife fodder

This guy’s wife pulls up this photo every time they get into an argument (true story). I’m not even sure the exact look he is attempting to go for.

12. Benjamin Button

We aren’t sure if this kid is 7 or 70. Regardless, he is ecstatic to have gotten his new Nintendo. Those glasses are also legendary.

13. Dewey Decimal

While this may at first appear to be a librarian, it actually isn’t. It is a young boy posing for his school photo back in the day. We think he was probably trying to impersonate his teacher!

14. Born to spit

This kid wanted to be Eminem when she grew up. The hanging mic (hairbrush) and stanced out pose are amazing. I want to hear her mixtape.

15. Movie night

This guy had two movies on his list for the evening. First up was The Matrix (courtesy of the sunglasses), and the second was Fight Club (courtesy of the opened shirt front.

16. Blind to the haters

Dubbed the “Beiber cut”, this hairstyle was prolific in American Eagles and Abercrombies across the country. While it did improve your chances with the ladies, it didn’t help your eyesight.

17. Too cool

This is one family that you don’t want to mess with. From the aviators to the girl holding the gun, this is a BA photo that nobody dares bring up at gatherings.

18. Rage against the parents

“Hey, kids! We are taking a road trip to see the geysers!”

“Whatever dad, you know I hate road trips… and this family”

19. Stange hobbies

These teenage friends wouldn’t hang out at parties in school or anything. They loved to mime! I guess that’s one way to spend your weekend.

20. Too soon?

When is it “ok” to laugh at a national tragedy? The Titanic sank in 1912, so maybe 100 years? These kids went for it. We respect it.

In a world of social media and cloud storage, remember that anything can be searched for. At the same time, however, there is still something valuable about seeing how STUPID you used to look (don’t worry, we all did). It is part of the process.
