20 pets that nearly gave their owners a heart attack

We get pets because their cute, and because they can be fantastic for relieving stress. If only things were always that easy. Yes, some pets instead excel at giving us anxiety. Whether itās your cat knocking over expensive things, your dog eating things it shouldnāt be, or a bird that likes to fly way too close to electric fans and fireplaces.
āMy pet almost gave me a heart attackā is a pretty common thing, and hereās 20 pets doing exactly that. Hey, itās not like they do this stuff on purpose.
1. You seem awfully chill for someone who lost an arm.

Well, weāre off to a good start. Who wouldnāt have a heart attack at the sight of this? That, and why is this toy shaped so convincingly like a catās arm?
2. Carcharoth indeed.

When Reddit user BigDende shared this with the r/prancingponypod subreddit, he was pretty quick to reference Carcharoth from The Silmarillion. With how deceptively toothy this dog looks, I could totally see this doggy guarding Angband and dueling with Beren and Luthien.
3. Whatcha got thereā¦oh.

Iāve got to admit, itād be pretty funny to scare people this way. Stick a cow or a pigās leg into a human shoe and watch the look on peopleās faces. That is, until you run into that one guy who knows his anatomy and goes āThe foreleg is made of the tibia and fibula, and there is clearly only one bone in that shoeā. Like, okay dude, we get it.
4. Weāve got a hole new problem.

Optical illusions are always a treat, but even more so when you see on in real life. This catās belly patch is doing an awfully good job of looking like a hole in its side.
5. Guess heās just logging off.

Man, people are so inconsiderate with their timber. Hey, if youāve got enough lumber for construction and firewood, at least clean up the leftover wood you donāt need. This oneās already got a dog growing out of it.
6. New Dark Souls boss just dropped.

Do yāall remember Chaos Witch Quelaag. You know, the woman whose top half was sitting on top of a giant, lava-spewing spider? Yeah, I wonder if this is her dog. Still, I wouldnāt mind petting it.
7. There isnāt a shadow of doubt.

I donāt doubt for one second that this dog gave a few people heart attacks. Youād need to get closer to see that distinct doggy snoot before you can relax. This Shiba Inu looks a whole lot more like Cheems, ready to bonk us for thinking heās a tiger. He also looks quite a lot like a Thylacine, wouldnāt you say?
8. It looks more grim that it actually is.

Candy the Corgi, like most dogs when they were young, can get playfully curious a lot. After rolling around in some fruit juice, the corgi made a sight thatād make most people light-headed. Itās just fruit juice, everyone. Calm down!
9. Did you do a double take?

This image made the rounds quite a bit, in no small part to the optical trickery. I also thought I was looking at a pigās head for a few seconds, until I discerned which bits were the nose and which ones were the ears.
10. I always feel like somebodyās watching me.

Your ceiling may be waterproof, but is it catproof? Better be prepared for your cat to spy on you from the ceiling every now and then.
11. āAre ya winning son?ā

This is why you lock the door when you go for a bathroom break. Your dogs just canāt resist peering in there like they have a right to know what youāre doing.
12. Never seen this yoga pose before.

When youāve got an itch in a hard-to-reach place, itās best to employ the Jason Mraz strategy. This involves bending over backwards so you can try and see it clearer.
13. Okay, get in.

This image was posted to r/blursed images, a sort of portmanteau of the words āblessedā and ācursedā. It aināt hard to see why. With those glowing eyes and that hole with the digging equipment, youād be forgiven for thinking he just dug your grave.
14. They had us in the first half, not gonna lie.

Seeing your pet foaming at the mouth is enough to make any pet owner scream and panic. This dog must think heās real funny sticking that piece of paper in his mouth like that. You almost gave us a heart attack there, buddy.
15. āDonāt you scare me like that!ā

A gruesome sight on the kitchen floor. Iād panic too if I saw my cat all bloody on the floor like this. Thank goodness this is just paprika.
16. Iām just as confused as you.

Turns out this groomer is missing most of his right arm. He isnāt punching clean through the dogās head, though it does look like it.
17. The Borkening

Some pets seem to be doing this on purpose. Why else would this dog be staring at the security camera in the dead of night? At least it made for a good Reddit post.
18. Let me just see where I put myā¦.oh.

When pets decide to take naps in the most random places, you might end up with a cat inside a toolbox. This person got a dog inside a crate, and honestly I might have a mini-heart attack too. Imagine pulling out a crate to grab some tools or a bear, and thereās a doggo inside.
19. Thatās a killer smile if Iāve ever seen one.

Itās said that you should never smile at some animals, because the concept of smiling as a friendly gesture is lost on them. Smiling involves bearing your teeth, and plenty of animals take that as a threat. Looking at this exampleā¦yeah I can see why.
20. Can you not?

Thereās being creepy, and then thereās this. I half expect this dog to send me photos that look like they were taken outside the window while Iām in bed.
I hope this list didnāt give you too many nightmares. We all need a good scare to make us uneasy, donāt we? Canāt be having too much relaxation now.
