Sand is something you either hate or love. Yes, it gets everywhere, but MAN, is it fun to build stuff with! When you were a kid, sandcastles were an essential part of any beach trip. Nowadays, beach trips usually just involve alcohol and a good book. These photos of amazing sand art might inspire that childlike imagination we lost!

Space, the final frontier. This sandcastle is honestly STUNNING. I will never understand how they get those edges so crisp. This tower is futuristic and beautiful, all in one.

2. Art with a message

This piece of sand art comes with a reminder. It has a hashtag “save the sea” and features some amazing dolphins swimming in a hyper-realistic way. It’s pretty amazing.

What’s the difference between a palace and a castle? Not really sure. This “sand palace” is still beautiful, even if we don’t know how to classify it.

This pirate ship is so good. I don’t know how they made this entirely out of the sand. Even the little holes where the cannons would come out are present. Details make the picture here.

If we could watch TV while on the beach, it would definitely look like this. Comfy, chilling, and covered in sand. This cool-cat is living the life.

We all know who this guy is. Yoda is about as popular an alien you can get. What’s wild about this sculpture is that we don’t really have anything for scale! It could be massive or tiny.

If you didn’t immediately see what this image is depicting, think of Christmas! Yes, it’s Santa Claus and a big bag of toys about to go out for his sleigh ride… or maybe he’s just going to catch a wave.

This Elizabethan era scene is complete with a train, corsets, and a sun-umbrella. Honestly, it’s one of the best ones we’ve seen so far. It even looks to scale, which is wild.

9. Soft sand

One of the coolest things that sculptors can do with things like this is turning a hard medium (stone or sand) into something that looks soft. This baby is made of sand but looks like he would be soft to the touch.

This is the Fortress of Crabs. Actually, we don’t know what it’s for, but any crabs who want to establish a kingdom on the beach should look into using this artist to build their crab-castle.

This was one of the entries at the WestonSand Sculpture Festival, and we love it. The expression on the woman’s face and the snake she is holding in her hand are all beautifully crafted.

12. Built-in age

One of the coolest things about this sculpture is the appearance of age. It’s worn down and even has an old, knotted tree on the side. The bricks are falling off, and it looks like it’s been here for years.

13. A sculpture with history

This depiction is of a mountain fairy who is believed to have married a dragon. The fairy is holding her kids and eggs that she had with the dragon. It’s honestly quite beautiful.

14. Sand and perspective

Combining different artistic expressions can get wild. This sculpture is made of sand AND it uses perspective art. It’s broken up, but when viewed from the right angle, comes perfectly together.

The first image is of something we all love – cats. The second is where that cat was placed – on a huge sculpture wall that was carved into the sandstone. Pretty incredible.

That tiger looks about as fierce as it can, even being carved completely from the sand. Imagine going down to the beach with a friend at night and accidentally shining your phone light on that face!

17. An entire city

This is an entire city built into the sand. It even has a little blue water pool for the inhabitants (even if the only inhabitants are sand fleas). The detail on this one is matched by none.

This poor woman has no idea that she is about to be eaten by that T-Rex behind her. Her only hope is that a wave comes in and deletes it.

For me, this is one of the most impressive. I don’t know how you get sand to become rigid like this, but it’s incredible. The guy can literally swing from the top of it like King Kong in NYC.

This hyper-realistic sculpture is probably our favorite. I mean, the artistry of it is absolutely insane. This took years of practice to get something as beautiful as this.
