20 trees that refused to give up, proving life always finds a way
Trees are fighters – and they have to be considering the way we treat them and the rest of our environment.
The trees below show that no matter what you throw at it – even pianos – nature will always find a way to thrive.
Through hurricanes, concrete, and fire hydrants, nature always finds a way.
1. Sneaky sapling
You cut me down, I get right back up again.
It looks like these homeowners are giving this tree its second chance.
2. Zombie tree
This tree refuses to die.
You can cut it, but you can’t kill it.
3. Busting through brick
This tree is growing out of the side of a house.
We just want to know what’s going on INside!
4. Stubborn stump
You’re going to need a lot more than a chainsaw to kill a tree.
Life always finds a way.
5. Tree vs. tree
Ok, to be fair, when nature fights itself, the results can be unpredictable.
6. Burnin’ down the house
We hope there’s another hydrant nearby because we fear this one is out of order.
Looks like this tree wasn’t happy with its neighbor.
7. Thrown for a loop
This palm tree fell over and curved right back up.
We just want to know what the homeowners were thinking when they let it lay there, waiting to see what happened.
8. Tenacious tree
Talk about a thrill-seeker!
We can even see this tree’s roots reaching down and out searching for nutrients.
And from what we’ve seen so far, we’re confident it’ll find what it needs.
9. Hedge on a ledge
We hope these homeowners didn’t chop down that tree to get an unobstructed view!
10. Between a rock and a hard place
This tree has been smashed, windblown, and otherwise abused but it’s still growing strong.
11. Tickling the keys
In Monterey, California there grows a tree that wouldn’t even let a piano get in its way.
At first, we thought someone just threw the piano at it really hard, but it’s clearly grown up through the keyboard.
12. We can’t go it alone
No man – nor tree – is an island.
While it’s clearly trying to get by on its own, this tree’s roots have to extend across the gap for nutrients.
13. Sidewalk sapling
If you give nature an inch (or in this case, a few centimeters), it’ll take a mile (or in this case, sprout a tree).
14. Woody wave
You can try to upend nature, but it’ll grow sideways just to prove a point.
15. Pulpable puzzle
This tree’s roots are spilling all over the sidewalk – and for some reason it makes us feel a little uneasy.
Maybe because it looks like it has a mind of its own? Or it’s coming for us?
16. If a tree falls in the forest…
This tree fell over and grew 4 more trees out of itself.
So now you know what happens when a tree falls in the forest.
17. Unchained
This tree branch spiraled through the chain-link fence and just kept growing.
It’ll take your metal cage and raise you the power of nature.
18. Exposed
We don’t know how this tree is looking these days, but things were questionable after Hurricane Irma came through and obliterated the dune it was growing out of.
Then again, it was growing out of a sand dune, so our money’s on the tree.
19. Goo tree
We didn’t know trees could puddle.
But it’s clear they can do just about anything at this point.
20. Floating foliage
Yet another example of erosion, but this time it’s clear the tree persevered.
Because Nature always wins.
