20 people who became unlikely “heroes”

You know what they say – heroes don’t always wear capes.

Some of them are downright ridiculous in their attempts to help (or punish) humanity.

Many of them have their priorities a little bit out of order.

Nevertheless, they tried. And here are 20 of the strangest tries at heroism we’ve seen lately:

1. Glowing review

Online reviews are essential to small businesses, so it’s important to be detailed in your feedback on what was great about your experience.

This barbershop customer wants the general farting public to know just where to go if they’re gassy but still need a haircut.

2. Sanity filter

The Internet is a wild place and sometimes you want to save your mental health by avoiding certain things and people – whether they be political or pop-cultural.

Tired of the press’ obsession with the Kardashian and Jenner families? (Well, first, stop clicking their stories because those click numbers are used to indicate that people want more.) THEN, install this handy app that will bump all stories with a mention of either last name right out of your newsfeed.

(And, yes, they have them for politicians too – but just make sure your view of the world isn’t completely one-sided.)

3. It’s the thought that counts

It would have really been a shame if that dog had been harmed by the imaginary fire in this guy’s head. He probably would have been really upset to “see” it happen.

Luckily, this superhero rushed into the imaginary fire and saved the pup.

We’re guessing a judge might not necessarily take that into account when he’s sentenced for his drug crime though.

4. Better than the ice cream man

Someone get this man a cape!

For those of us who are lactose intolerant but still need a summertime treat in the form of a friendly guy on wheels coming down the street, meet the meat smoker man!

We’ll just let you sit back and imagine how awesome it would be to have this guy live in your neighborhood.

Sir, we applaud your efforts.

5. He’s got the power

A lot of electricity-based superhero names have already been taken, but we’re accepting suggestions for this low-key legend who was kind enough to bring a power supply for his fellow travelers who needed a charge on the go.

If only everyone could be so thoughtful and conscious of others at the airport!

6. Fair warning

Sir, or madam, we thank you kindly. Most of us have felt the panic of having to come up with a plan when the stall we’ve chosen is out of toilet paper.

It’s a situation you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy (ok, you might) and we applaud the person who managed to make a sign warning other bathroom-goers that this is the wrong stall to enter.

7. Just so you know

Many of us find it hard to trust people – and yet we’re oddly trusting of those around us in cafes when we leave our laptops out during a trip to the bathroom or getting up to get our order.

That kind of theft happens every day and can devastate the productivity of people who haven’t backed up their work on the cloud yet.

But this group of good samaritans is providing the overly trusting with a heads up.

8. Customer service

The UPS guy/gal has a hard job (now more than ever with so many people ordering online). They can’t possibly be expected to make their way back to each location more than once a day if someone isn’t home.

But we understand that wine can sometimes feel like a necessity and, technically, it is fair to warn a delivery person that they’re simply wasting their time by trying to deliver at a certain hour.

We salute this generous UPS delivery person for not only making the second trip but giving the tenant a heads up about when they’d be back.

9. Above and beyond

This is way more than anyone can expect of a delivery person, but as we said, these men and women are some of the greatest and most thoughtful people on Earth. Think about it – all they do is bring stuff to you that you don’t want to go get yourself.

This guy had a “sinister hangover” and wasn’t sure he’d be able to get out of bed to get his pizza, so he left special instructions for the delivery guy to come upstairs.

And despite the possible danger, this Domino’s man came all the way to the bedroom to bring lunch to his customer.

We hope the tip was as big as the hangover.

10. Heroic rescue

Rushing into flames to rescue something is a sure sign of a generous spirit and someone who puts the safety of others before their own.

Unfortunately, beer can’t say thank you. And even worse, he probably had to wait to drink it since it was pretty warm.

11. That’s what friends are for

When you have to take a break from the world to concentrate on your work, there’s a lot you might miss.

This friend kept their pal in the loop while she was away at boot camp by printing out some of the Internet and sending it in book form so she could keep up with memes.

12. Speed trap hero

Plenty of people get frustrated when they see a cop “hiding” in order to catch speeders.

There’s no way this man was going to let his fellow drivers get pulled over though.

While he might have accomplished the same mission by just hanging the warning sign on his truck, we give him an A for effort for holding that thing up.

And it does double duty since people will stop speeding when they see it!

13. Elevator shamer

Ok, we get it, there are a handful of reasons you might need to take the elevator to the second floor. But lost of people are just lazy. In fact, they even announce to the elevator how lazy they are when they press 2 as if that somehow makes it better.

It does not.

So this hero made it even harder to get away with that behavior.

We want to know how many folks walked right back out in shame.

14. A friend in need

If you’re taking a laboratory class in school, you need to be dressed appropriately. No shorts, no open-toed shoes, etc.

But sometimes we forget.

Luckily, this student had a real hero of a friend who was willing to switch bottoms with her, lending out his sweatpants and chilling in her short shorts until she was done.

15. It’s a bird, it’s a plane…

Actually, it really is a bird. A really well-timed bird. Or maybe a bird of alternative justice who simply doesn’t want people to get fined for speeding by an inanimate object like a camera.

Its strategic dives have managed to obscure any information that would lead to a ticket. (Of course, this raises the question – how did they get this photo then?)

16. Double delivery

We really can’t say enough good things about delivery people. No one should expect them to go above and beyond by bringing food from two places (especially when the apps aren’t set up to pay for the extra).

Alas, this Domino’s guy read the notes on the order submitted by a drunk customer saying he really wanted McDonald’s too – and he made it happen.

17. Doing the work so you don’t have to

How many licks does it take?

Many of us have insisted we’d do the experiment one day.

Some of us have even tried, only to punk out and take a big bite once we get about 50 licks in.

But this master of patience has answered the question for us all.

18. New phone, who ‘dis?

Isn’t it annoying when someone gets a new phone and doesn’t bother to back up or transfer their contacts and then YOU’RE expected to help them by giving them your information all over again?

Well, this person just proved you don’t have to be selfish.

And hopefully, their good example served as a lesson to others.

19. Don’t make the same mistake

When new food items come out there’s no way of knowing if they’re going to be worth the money.

Of course, everyone has different tastes, so sharing your opinion might not be worth a whole lot to some people.

Alas, this heroic shopper wanted to make sure that anyone trying to decide about whether or not to indulge in the new flavor of Pop-Tart that they should save those precious dollars.

20. It pays to be a regular

Isn’t it great to be a regular?

It’s pretty darn thoughtful for someone who likely makes minimum wage to go out of their way to make sure your takeaway order is in prime condition every day when you stroll in.

***

People can be pretty selfish, but occasionally we go above and beyond for each other. Or for beer.

Isn’t that heartwarming?
