The new Coca-Cola Christmas commercial will make your heart full and your tears flow

This year has gone by so fast and before you know it, Christmas is right around the corner. Although we might be celebrating it differently this year, one of the things that would stay the same is the annual Coca-Cola Christmas advert.

Through the years, the Coca-Cola company has been melting our hearts with their tear-jerking commercials. This year’s release has been widely praised by viewers, leaving some with tears in their eyes.

The story and concept of this year’s commercial were phenomenal – thanks to award-winning director Taika Waititi.

The filmmaker, whose notable films include ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Jojo Rabbit’, has been assigned by the retail giant to direct this year’s Christmas special. No wonder the scenes kinda look familiar, but more into that later.

In the advert, a father is shown making a long and formidable journey towards Santa’s house in the North Pole. He braved harsh weather and basically went out on an adventure to deliver his daughter’s letter to Santa Claus.

The video began with a young girl rushing off to this father who was leaving for work. She handed him a letter for Santa and hugged him goodbye.

During his lunch break, the father opened his lunch box to have a bottle of Coca-Cola when he noticed his daughter’s letter and remembers that he needs to deliver it to Santa. From afar, he saw the boat leaving and decided to go after it with a smaller motorboat.

He valiantly rode enormous waves until the rotary engine died and was even jumped on by a huge whale. The man swam to the nearest shoreline with the letter in his hand. After which we see him taking a rest in front of a bonfire as he grazes upon the letter.

The man ended up having a journey of a lifetime.

He moved forward on his own as he fought his way through several obstacles, including climbing a mountain by hand, surviving in a jungle, so on and so forth.

You probably would have noticed the breathtaking sceneries in every place that he travels to. The spectacular views definitely make the journey worth his while.

After climbing up a steep, snowy mountain, at last he has finally reached Santa’s home.

As the man reached Santa’s doorway, he dropped on his knees after seeing the door sign which reads “closed for Christmas.”

It seems that all hope was lost until he sees the Coca-Cola Christmas truck behind him, ready to take him home.

When the man arrived home, the driver gave him back the letter and opened it to see his daughter’s wish.

This is when the real tearjerker comes in.

The man had the surprise of his life after reading the letter, which says, “Dear Santa, please bring Daddy back home this Christmas.” Apparently, the driver of the truck was Santa Claus.

As expected, positive responses flooded the comments section after the company released the advert weeks ago. Some reminisced on their childhood while others gave high praise to this year’s advert.
