29 French Bulldogs flown to U.S. for adoption after being rescued from meat markets

Dogs are not just pets but also family members.

For a real animal lover, dogs make the best animal companion simply because they are “man’s best friend.” They make people happy and homes safe. You can’t literally ask for more once you own one.

A gruesome fact.

While most people would love to have a dog in their lives, sadly, people from other races look at them as a tasty meal on their tables.

Selling dog meat in the market is still rampant in some countries. That is despite international and national laws that forbid this terrifying practice. It’s not just mere animal abuse but a literal slaughter.

In the nick of time.

Recently, Wagmor Pets, an L.A.-based dog rescue saved a total of 29 French Bulldogs including some French bulldog mixes.

They learned about this horrifying news from San Francisco-based Wonder Dog Rescue when they asked for help in transporting the rescued dogs.

According to Wonder Dog Rescue, the poor dogs were bound for meat markets in China.

The French Bulldogs were sold by their dog breeders after realizing the dogs were no longer useful to them.

The dogs were luckily saved from being sold in meat markets and were soon placed in safe houses in the same country. They’re bound to fly to the US, however, transporting them all at once was not an easy and cheap task to accomplish.

To make it happen, they must have roughly $30,000!

That’s over $1,000 for each of the dog’s transport expenses.

It’s indeed a huge amount of money that they must have in order to fly all dogs to the US.

To collect the said amount of money, Wagmor Pets joined hands with Wonder Dog Rescue and other animal welfare groups like Church of Pug, Pug Nation, and Tiny Paws Pug Rescue.

The community of animal lovers also donated, and with everyone’s help, they’re able to collect enough funds to cover the transportation money needed by the rescued dogs.

17 of them landed safely in Los Angeles.

It was May 7 when they landed at Van Nuys airport.

Wagmor Pets volunteers were there to welcome the Frenchies, they were immediately given some cuddles right there and then.

While waiting for their soon forever homes and families, all of the 17 French Bulldogs are staying at Wagmor Pets. There, they’re being given a refresher and all the love in the world. It’s a treatment that’s miles away from what they experienced from their cruel breeders.

Adoption applications are already raining over for the rescued dogs. Wagmor Pets is certain all 17 (along with the 12 remaining Frenchies) will be adopted in no time.

If you want an average-sized family dog, a French Bulldog is the best for you.

According to the American Kennel Club:

“The bright, affectionate Frenchie is a charmer. Dogs of few words, Frenchies donā€™t bark muchā€”but their alertness makes them excellent watchdogs. They happily adapt to life with singles, couples, or families, and do not require a lot of outdoor exercise. They get on well with other animals and enjoy making new friends of the human variety. It is no wonder that city folk from Paris to Peoria swear by this vastly amusing and companionable breed.”

They are also considered a mini version of a Bulldog. Their physical trademark is their large, erect ā€œbat earsā€.

If you are near the area, you better send your adoption application over to Wagmor Pets.
