These two Venezualan toddlers were able to do much more than toddle during their first-ever dance competition!
Some people are born with a talent for dance. The toddlers in this video are obviously two of them.
If you think about it, no three-year-old can really have had enough time to learn to dance. Yet the two three-year-olds in this video look like they’ve been taking lessons since they were born!
The boy and girl in this video are cousins who share a passion for dancing. Their parents were astonished at how accomplished the toddlers were.
So they decided to show off the kids’ talent to the world. They entered the children into a competition to perform Venezuala’s national dance, the Joropo.
The little boy and girl were stood in a stadium filled with hundreds of people. They showed no signs of fear.
They held on to each other and waited for the music to start playing.
As soon as they heard the song, they started moving forward to the beat. They bowed to the judges and began their routine.
The little girl span around under the boy’s arm, and he took her free hand.
Then they twirled across the floor, showing a really strong sense of rhythm to the music.
The girl span under the boy’s hand once more, and they carried on dancing.
Then they moved their feet rapidly to the music. No one could believe that two children who were so young could achieve such impressive footwork. The crowd roared at them!
After a little more rhythmic dancing and a little more footwork, the boy and girl lifted their arms over their heads, twisting each other around without letting go.
They finished up with a bow and another spin. Once more, the crowd erupted with applause and cheers.
When the little girl had grown up, she found the footage of this performance and decided to upload it to her YouTube channel. She wasn’t expecting it to go viral. To date, the video has gained over 5.2 million views. It also has more than 41,000 likes and 1,500 comments. People have been saying things like this:
The Joropo, the dance the kids performed, is a really special kind of dance.
While it’s the national dance of Venezuela and has a strong South American feel, it also has elements of European and African dance incorporated. The word “joropo” means “a party.”
The Joropo is a very strong part of Venezuala’s identity. It has been the country’s national dance since the year 1882.
The boy and girl in this video really did their country proud. The girl in the video, Nodier Suarez Cordoba, has said that she still has a love of performing the traditional dances of her culture to this very day. It’s clearly something that she loves doing, and she must be so happy to know that she’s been wowing crowds since she was only three-years-old.
