Prom night is considered an important event, particularly to girls. It’s like an event that introduces them into adulthood where they get to dress up, have a date, and socialize with friends.

One of the most important parts of going to prom is the dressing up. Some students spend a long time thinking about what they are going to wear. Others even convince their parents to spend a fortune to get the best dresses in town.

These 40 teens, however, decided to go vintage by wearing their moms’ prom dresses. The results are stunning.

1. The prom dress from ’85

This 1985 prom dress got a really nice upgrade. Apart from the belt changed to red, the corsage was upgraded to an Apple Watch.

2. Gorgeous in black

This photo simply proves that black never goes out of style. Even though it has been 20 years since it was first worn, this dress still looks classy.

3. From wedding reception to prom night

Red is another classic color when it comes to prom dresses so it wasn’t a surprise when this woman chose to wear her mom’s dress to prom. The surprising part is how they managed to look so good in the same dress.

Her daughter didn’t wear the dress to prom but she tried it on the morning of her prom. After 20 years, I can say that it still looks good. Too bad she didn’t wear it to her actual prom.

She had always wanted to wear her mom’s dress for Senior prom. When the day came, she got exactly what she wanted. She also got to recreate her mom’s prom photo with her dad.

This green dress is vintage, classy, and timeless. It’s quite a treasure. It was passed from her grandmother to her aunt and down to her for her sorority formal. The family surely has good taste.

This mother couldn’t be any happier knowing that her daughter likes her style. This was the second time she got to wear her dresses from high school.

This girl isn’t just happy to wear her mom’s beautiful black dress to prom, but she was quite proud of it, too. Seeing that dress, well, I’d probably feel the same way.

14. Vintage dress

This really intricate and beautiful dress is her mom’s prom dress from 1983. It might look a bit odd to wear to a prom night today, but it was all the rage back then.

Not everyone would dare to wear this color to prom because it’s bold and eye-catching. Well, those are probably the same reasons this mother and her daughter wore that dress.

This is a really lovely dress. It’s no wonder why this woman chose to wear it to her prom. You wouldn’t think it’s from 1989.

17. This DIY dress

This is a DIY prom dress from 1987. Her mom made it when she was just 17 years old. After 30 years, she got to wear it to her senior ball.

18. A timeless style

Some styles are just timeless and this dress is one good example of that. These ladies look gorgeous in the same gown and same pretty smile.

I absolutely love the pattern on this dress. The style is simple and sophisticated at the same time. Her daughter’s hair color is really pretty, too.

This dress is on the spot. It’s simple but really stylish. Even after 25 years, it still looks nice as a prom dress.

After the dress she ordered online didn’t match her expectations, she went to her mom’s closet. She found this dress and got it altered to fit her.

This dress was first worn in 1962. The last time was in 2013. I’m excited to see who wears it next in the family.

This dress clearly has the spirit of the 80s. It’s colorful, fun, and cool. Both of them look gorgeous in it.

This classic red dress is from 1980. It’s definitely one of my favorite hand-me-down prom dresses from this list. It doesn’t have a lot of details or intricate designs, but it’s totally eye-catching.

25. Back in style

Peplum dresses were a hit back then. A few years later, it’s back and this lovely girl is rocking and enjoying her mom’s peplum dress.

26. Simply stunning

There’s really nothing much to say about this dress other than it’s gorgeous. Clearly, these two ladies have a great taste when it comes to style. Not everyone can pull off wearing a dress in that color.

27. Heartwarming

This woman chose to wear her mom’s dress to prom and it’s making her brother a bit emotional. Who wouldn’t feel that way? She looks really beautiful.

28. Revamped her mom’s old prom dress

This lovely woman revamped her mom’s prom dress and it turned out really pretty. With a shorter skirt and less sleeves, it totally fitted her personality and physique. Mom’s quite happy about it, too.

These pictures are 32 years apart. This dress seriously held up.

It’s hard to tell who wore the dress better. Both mother and daughter slayed it!

This daughter looks a lot like her mom, particularly in that dress. They are equally stunning, if I must say.

This daughter decided to wear her mom’s prom dress. However, to make it fit her personality more, she decided to play with it and make a few changes. By putting tulle over the skirt, it made the dress look so much better. Of course, her mom rocked the original dress.

It’s hard to deny how this daughter looks a lot like her mom. At first glance, I actually thought that there’s just one woman in that photo. It’s no wonder why they like the same style.

34. Gorgeous sparkly red dress

This style and color work really well on these two ladies. Even if they wore it to two different events, I must say that they slayed in that dress. It must have been in the genes!

One of the nice things about wearing red is that it gives you that extra confidence. Just look at this girl oozing with confidence in the exact dress her mom wore on her prom.

This girl got more than her mom’s gorgeous prom dress. It looks like she inherited the good looks, too. Lucky girl!

This mom was keeping her dress so that her daughter could wear it to prom someday. After so many years, her gorgeous little girl was finally able to try it on and it looked lovely on her.

This is a style not everyone can pull off, but these two wonderful women did. They wore the dress with so much confidence.

Although moms and daughters share a special bond, it doesn’t mean that they are totally alike in all ways. Take this lovely lady as an example. Even though she’s wearing her mom’s prom dress, she wore it according to her own style- with a pair of rubber shoes!

It’s hard to find a fabric that can hold up so well. This vintage prom dress is already 23 years old and it still looks the same as when mom wore it for the first time.
