5 signs it's time to make changes to your life
When it’s time to make a change in our lives, we don’t really know right away.
Most of the time, the signs gradually appear one by one. At first, it’s small signs, signs to wake us up into taking some type of action.
But when we ignore it, the signs become bigger and come one after the other, hoping it’ll finally get us to start making impactful and lasting changes.
What are the usual signs to look out for?
There are different signs for different people, depending on their circumstances. But there are signs that are similar or experienced quite commonly by different folks.
1. Our energy is low
There are two reasons why a person’s energy levels are low. One, for health reasons. We might be experiencing low reserves or a deficiency in a particular nutrient or vitamin in our body. Get tested by a doctor and make the necessary changes to increase that.
Two, we’ve lost interest in your life, as well as purpose and meaning.
This is a bigger problem to have but it’s still possible to solve. It’ll take some time with small changes but it’ll get better.
“You stopped caring about yourself the way you used to. You need to start slow; talk walks, eat one healthy meal a day at least, trade off one junky snack for a healthy snack, drink more water,” Michele Paiva, a zen psychotherapist and neuromarketing strategist, stated.
2. We keep looking back at the past or dreaming about the future.
We keep looking back at the past and wishing it was still the same. And we long for those days when it seemed easier and just want to fast forward to the future.
“When you look back on past events, you know how they turned out. Uncertainty is stressful. The present often feels less pleasant than the past, because we’re still waiting to find out how the various education and business ventures that are part of our life now are going to work out,” Annabel Irion Worsham, Ph.D., explained.
We’re tired of the present moment and want it to be over. But, unless it’s lived, the future will never come.
3. We look forward to vacations
We take vacations to recharge. But when we find ourselves booking more vacations, especially staycations, regularly just so we can escape from our current life, that becomes a different story.
“Instead of wondering when your next vacation is, maybe you should set up a life you don’t need to escape from,” Seth Godin emphasized.
Yes, we need to have lots of life-changing experiences to help us grow and reignite our creativity and drive. But when we go on vacations so often for reignition, we need to ask ourselves if something needs to change.
4. We always wake up exhausted.
Every day, we wake up feeling so exhausted, even though we slept for seven to eight hours. Sometimes it’s not even exhaustion, we’re just tired of living the same life we lived yesterday, last week, last month, or worse, last year. And this dread will mess up our body.
At first, our body will try to cope with the emotions but when our body reaches past our limit, these emotions will manifest. It’ll manifest through getting sick constantly, fatigue, loss of appetite, and waking up exhausted.
5. Everything or everyone annoys us.
We start to become jealous of other people. Minor annoyances become major problems for us. All the things that made us happy before have become problematic for us now. Nothing is ever good enough anymore. It consumes us until we force ourselves to leave so we can escape from it.
These are only some of the many signs we need to change our life right now.
When we begin to experience these signs, we need to stop and reassess your life. What is going on? Why do we feel this way? What is making us feel this way?
Once we’ve accepted that we need to make changes in your life, big or small, take the first necessary steps. Sometimes, these steps can be taking up a new hobby, or enrolling at the gym or fitness studio, or spending quality time with our best friends, or volunteering at a shelter.
