5-year-old insists he has a 'twin' in class – teacher sends mom photo and she breaks down

Britney Tankersley was unsure and even hesitant but still found herself at a local Walmart late at night trying to find matching shirts for her son and his friend, who her son insists, looks exactly like him.

Myles was so sure that he kept insisting. Britney, being the awesome mom that she is, decided to go ahead and look for the shirts.

She never saw Tanner, Myles’ friend, so she had no idea if her son was being entirely accurate. The only description she had was that both boys had dark hair and brown eyes.

Britney shared on Facebook,

“He went on and on about how they looked exactly the same. ‘We both have brown eyes, we both have dark hair,’ and he was just adamant. So I head to Walmart and I’m like, irritated. I’m like, this is too late. I’m too old for this.”

She had to spend about an hour looking for Tanner’s mom before heading to Walmart.

And there she found to her surprise, two cute matching button-down flannel shirts in the boys’ sizes that said, “Future Leader.”

“The Twin Day was just one of the fun dress-up days for Red Ribbon Week at their school,” explained Britney. “My daughter already had a twin. We had it planned for a few weeks, but Myles is in Kindergarten, so I didn’t know any parents to connect with in his class.”

Britney continued,

“He popped up and said ‘Oh! I asked Tanner if he wanted to be my twin tomorrow and he said yes.’ I’m just sitting there… at 8 o’clock at night… who’s Tanner? I don’t know his mom… what size is he?!”

This was after Britney told her daughter to be ready with her outfit the next day. Myles’ had that light bulb moment.

When Twin Day finally came, Myles’ teacher sent Britney a photograph and she was absolutely stunned. All her late night hunting truly paid off.

The photo brought Britney to tears.

“Their teacher sent me this picture today. My heart melted. Obviously two very different children, but Myles didn’t see that. Wouldn’t the world be such a better place if we could all view it through the eyes of a couple five-year-olds?”

The beauty of the photo had everybody smiling.

“I was basically crying because it was so sweet. Obviously, I know that they don’t look alike at all. But he didn’t see that, you know? I expect to get a picture of another white child with light skin and brown hair, whatever, but I didn’t get that at all. And I said, ‘That is the sweetest thing in the whole world.’”
