First of all, hats off to all servers and bartenders. I don’t know how you do it. Rude and thankless customers are a thing, and I know I’d have a hard time dealing with them, even in a sea of awesome customers.

Here is a list of things that 50 of these very special people have done to either make it through their own day or make someone else’s day just a little bit brighter.

1. Some days are bad

Imagine sitting in a restaurant crying. A lot of people would just ignore you, too embarrassed to say anything. Here’s what one waiter did, and the customer’s grateful response.

2. When you’re a klutz

So you’re boyfriend spills his juice at the table. His very smart server provided refill and the equivalent of an adult sippy cup.

3. An engineering marvel

Who of us hasn’t watched as a busboy stacked and removed dirty plates from the table? I hope this one is well paid for his creativity and ingenuity. I bet he clears tables faster than anyone else.

4. Final Shift

A Last Supper with a twist. Leaving a job can bring different emotions. This waitress is celebrating with her very own last supper.

5. What he said

While ordering a drink, someone’s friend informed him that “lattes are for pussies.” I guess the barista overheard. Here is the final work of art.

6. Self-Control

You often overhear other conversations in a restaurant. One patron heard a customer being rude to the waitress, so took the time to tell her they thought she was doing a great job. Here’s her response.

7. Dad’s a joker

So dad joking told the waitress he was hoping for “one very small check.” When the check came, this is what he got. Jokes on you, dad.

8. An observant waitress

This customer is wearing a Powerpuff Girl t-shirt. Her desert came with a surprise—Blossom!

9. I’m talkin’ to you!

I think the message here is very clear. If you server has their back to you and they are busy with something else, just be patient.

10. Personalized receipts

Imagine being greeted with such great artwork on your receipt! And I have to wonder if the customers in any way inspired the art.

11. Nothing

Was he kidding? Being a brat? When this kid said he wanted nothing for desert, look at what the waiter brought him.

12. I owe you one

When you pay for an order of fries there is no exact amount you’re expecting, right? When this person’s waiter dropped a fry on the way to the table, they replaced it!

13. A literal server

Imagine this. You’re in Berlin and you’ve just had a huge meal. But this is Germany, and you must have a beer. So you ask for just a small one—and you get a small one!

14. If I had the power

Looks odd, right? Here’s the story. Someone tells their server to hold the pickles on their burger. They added that for every pickle they ended up with, they would destroy a city. The waiter returned with this plate and the message that these were his “least favorite places.”

15. Hey, where’s the lemon?

Sometimes you hesitate to complain. Sometimes you don’t hesitate and point out you didn’t get a lemon in your water. And your waiter comes back with this!

16. Moe? Is that you?

I’m not sure how many options there are on Halloween for a bartender who wants to stay in character. Or at least close to it. Good choice with this Simpsons character!

17. Oh, no!

Seriously, people. Why do you mess with the people that bring you your food? They have the perfect opportunity to do all sorts of horrible things—while they imagine ending your life!

18. Hmm, I’m calling not cool on this one

So you’re at the restaurant with a bunch of friends and ask your waiter to take some pics with your phone. And he takes a bunch of shots then walks away laughing. And you find out all he did was take pics of himself. That might have been a very important pic of friends rarely together.

19. Girlfriend, no!

You know what, I’m cool with leggings. And if they’re allowed in your work’s dress code, cool. But never, ever, where flesh colored leggings. This poor person thought his barista had no pants on!

20. Recipe for disaster!

So by the time you get your drinks, are they nothing but a puddle on the tray? This looks cool, but a whole lot dangerous—for the klutzy customer wandering around looking for the washroom.

21. Another orange juice mishap

What is it with people spilling their orange juice? And has it become a thing for servers to retaliate in kind? This guy spilled his and the server replaced it with something harder to spill.

22. Language barrier!

In case you don’t know, pho is pronounced fuh in Vietnamese. And I bet there are servers all over world who would love to wear an English equivalent to work.

23. Someone has skills!

Frankly, just looking at that makes me nervous. And does he rack those up his arm by himself, or does someone help him? How many hotdogs died while learning this skill?

24. Basically giving Danica the finger

So Danica left a one star review for this place. They don’t seem too concerned. In fact, the waiter has it printed on the back of his shirt. And hey, Danica? Learn some good American grammar. Nobody serves customer service.

25. Grumpy cat?

Okay, so your server leaves you this with your check. Clearly, we don’t know the whole story, but why the unhappy looking cat?

26. At least he’s honest

You’ve got to appreciate someone who is completely up front, right? So, no matter what you do, no free drinks!

27. Aww

Sometimes you build up a relationship with your server—because you eat at their establishment far too often. This person told their waitress they hadn’t been feeling well, and they got this to cheer them up. So sweet!

28. Hmm

It could have been worse, right? You could have got your check back with something far more offensive than the server expressing their apparent confusion over your order. I mean, how do you do wet and crispy at the same time?

29. Pack up the leftovers

You know when you can’t finish your meal at a restaurant, and you ask for the rest to go? This person asked for a plate to go… and that’s what her server came back with!

30. You have to look closely

Yep, that’s a foaming middle finger there. Seems someone complained to an Irish bartender about their Guinness not being filled to the top. This is their reply.

31. Haha

Does your barista really care how you spell your name? I think they got their point across, don’t you?

32. Redacted

So subtle! This barista is sending a message to a customer. I wonder if this is a one off, or if they are a serial flirt.

33. She’s so done!

You might think she won a pool tournament. Nope, this is what it looks like to survive a 12-hour shift on St. Patrick’s Day at the only Irish pub in town. Look at those tips!

34. Nothing

Was this a subtle dig? Are you supposed to be taking up a seat in a restaurant if you’re not eating? Hopefully others at the table made up for it.

35. Prehistoric

So someone’s girlfriend who is a bartender dressed up like this for her shift. First, that’s gotta be crazy hot. Second, how many drinks did she spill?

36. No spoilers

I never thought of this. But if you’re a server or bartender, you can overhear all kinds of stuff you’d rather not. This bartender is pretty serious about GoT spoilers! And apparently, he is dead serious. Shh!

37. Low hanging lighting

Poor guy. After a night of being hit in the head with the lighting, he came up with this illuminated solution.

38. Ahhh!

This is the kind of person you want serving your customers. This elderly lady told her server she was cold. He cared enough to improvise with a table cloth doubling as a blanket. Sooo sweet!

39. So humble!

Typically, you get some kind of message on your bill thanking you for your business. This waiter has a different twist on that.

40. Optical illusion

Have you heard that news anchors—who are formally dressed—are sometimes wearing shorts or something not so dressy behind the desk? And is it just me, or is someone a little unsteady on their high heels? Perhaps another drink is a bad idea, hmm?

41. I’m dying!

Okay, someone orders this desert and wonders why the waiter smiled at them. I guess they didn’t know what to expect. That is certainly… artistic. And the detail in the sorbet is perfect!

42. Can I have a bit more please?

Be prepared for what could happen when you ask for a little more diet coke. That could be exactly what you get!

43. I don’t think she’s happy with you!

So, do some places give you the order ticket instead of the receipt? Either way, I don’t think this server is too happy with all the changes and substitutions.

44. A caring server

You know how a lot of places will give you a cupcake or something on your birthday? This customer is lactose intolerant, so the server substituted a bread roll.

45. Baby needs new shoes!

This waitresses shoe broke at work so one of her colleagues fixed it—with duct take of course. I don’t know if the sigh worked though. How often do you look at your server’s feet?

46. Did they get that many?

I hope the large chili is very large, because that’s a lot of crackers. A customer asked for extras, and it looks like they got them!

47. Don’t be judgmental

This guys favorite bartender thinks one of his regulars is a pussy for ordering vodka and soda with mango, so he adds these to the glass. But it’s clearly all in fun. And by the way, I think that sounds yummy!

48. Don’t mess with the bartender

Apparently, someone continued to give the bartender a hard time. The bartender responded by doing this every time the customer went out for a smoke.

49. Sleeping on the job

I’ve heard a lot of Subways are closing. If they have so little traffic the staff falls asleep, that might be the reason why.

50. Perhaps they need more servers?

You know what my problem with this is? How clean are the bottom of those plates that are resting on top of your food? Hmm?
