Most underestimate the wisdom and power the elderly hold. Some people even pin older generations as easy targets for theft, identity theft, and harassment. The cruelty the elderly endure is tragic especially when it goes unnoticed by the police and health professionals who believe they are too old to be a victim.

These ageist behaviors are incredibly disrespectful and need to be recognized.

As these violent crimes against the elderly continue, there is one woman who refused to be a victim.

77-year-old Winifred Peel of Liverpool, England, was going about her day just like usual.

She visited her bank and after walking out, noticed 3 young men who looked like they weren’t from the area but just continued about her day.

As Ms. Peel continued her stroll she decided to stop by the ATM, little did she know those unfamiliar faces would be right beside her.

Then one of the young men stops and says “it’s not working” and while moving, these sneaky teenagers push Ms. Peel out of the way to get into her account.

But Ms. Peel knew she wasn’t going to let these hoodlums get her money without a fight.

The muggers go to withdraw £200 from her account when Winifred grabs one of the mugger’s collars and slams heads into the ATM several times! Those three men didn’t have a clue that Ms. Peel actively goes to the gym 4 times a week. Ms. Peel told the Daily Mail,

” I just thought, you’re not having my money young man.”

The 3 slimy men still managed to get her £200 but Winifred chases after the 3 mugger’s hitting them with her bag. Ms. Peel waited for police at the local bank to arrive so she could hopefully help them catch those cruel kids. Even though Ms. Peel has never been in a situation like that before, her instincts were quite fearless as she says,

““They did not care about how this would affect me. I would definitely say this has changed my life, I will never have the confidence I once did. I only hope my confidence returns.”

After the video footage was discovered of the three men leaving the ATM, a week later they were arrested.

The three men named Felix Stoica, Piper Dumitru, and Florin Geblescu were all put exactly where they deserve to be, behind bars. As for Ms. Peel, she was at ease knowing those 3 muggers were put in jail when she thought they’d only get a slap on the wrist. One of the robbers Stoica (far left), even had a previous burglary record.

Ms. Peel didn’t go outside for a week because she was fearful of people that could be following her. But Peel continues to hit the gym and it sure is paying off. The bank also refunded her £200 and sent her flowers (how sweet is that!). Brave Winifred Peel showed those young men not to mess with her.
