Petting dogs is something we all do without a second thought. After all, dogs exist to be petted, right? When a sweet pooch comes up to you, you’re required to reach out your arm and give it a nice, soft pet on the head.

But when the dogs start petting other dogs, how exactly would one react? I suppose we just found our answer via this TikTok.

I turn your attention to Ruby, a German Short-haired Pointer who’s become quite the star on TikTok. Ruby has an unconventional way of interacting with other dogs.

Ruby the dog hails from Burlington, Ontario. The behavior that got Ruby noticed at The Den Doggy Daycare was how she pet the other dogs.

Yes, this dog would reach out an entire paw and pet the other dogs. Right on their heads and noses too. The staff couldn’t resist filming it, and we’re thankful they did since everyone needs to see this.

In one video uploaded by Alanah Lorraine, Ruby lays her paw on the other dogs shoulders and gives them some sweet kisses to the face.

If you’re melting just hearing that, then you’re not alone.

“She does it every time she is in. We think she wants attention!” – Lorraine said in an interview with outlet The Dodo

The other dogs get instantly confused, but they just let her. I mean, if another person greeted me with a lick to the face, I’d be pretty confused too.

Lorraine, Ruby’s mom, saw the potential for Ruby to make tons more people smile.

She began filming more moments of Ruby doing just that; making friends at doggy daycare by petting them on the head.

“Most dogs aren’t bothered by it and just let it happen.” – Lorraine said

Many of the other dogs there are a bit uneasy with Ruby’s unconventional way of greeting. “Aren’t humans the only ones who get to do that to us?” they’re probably thinking. Ruby doesn’t think about it.

All she knows is that her gesture is meant to be friendly, and she goes around expressing it without a second thought.

Lorraine’s hunch was right. The world loved watching Ruby pet other dogs. Her TikToks have tons of views now, and have been picked up by several pop-journalist websites.

“I thought it would be adorable, but I never imagined it would go viral.”

Ruby’s fame has gone to phenomenal levels, way beyond just pop-journalistic websites.

She was featured on WeRateDogs, a popular Twitter account with 9.2 million followers.

They shared the video of Ruby doing her thing, with the caption “This is Ruby. She likes to pet the other dogs at daycare. 14/10 extremely relatable”.

The best part is that Ruby has no idea she’s a star.

Millions of people are adoring how she pets other dogs, and she just continues to do so. Never change, Ruby.
