Hundred-pound Malamute hilariously tries to hide from parents at bath time
Meet Phil, the ginormous Alaskan Malamute that happens to be one big, furry baby when it comes to bathtime.
Malamutes are known for their hilarious outgoing personalities, and Phil is no different. Just like any other Malamute, he loves to run around outside and play with his fur sister, Niko. They live with their parents in the UK and love going to the nearby swamps and marshes to explore and play.
A couple of weeks ago, the 100 pound Malamute was out doing just that but on their walk back home, mom noticed a very funky smell.
Sure enough, silly old Phil had gone off and rolled in something rotten while they were playing in the marshes.
When they got back home, mom pulled the garden hose out and washed both of her fluffy Malamutes’ paws off. Being that it’s still winter there, though, Phil’s mom didn’t have it in her heart to completely hose him down outside.
The hefty boy wasn’t set to go to the groomers for another month, so mom decided he was going to get a bath at home. While this might sound like a simple plan, getting Phil to take a bath is no easy feat!
The thing is, this big, burly Malamute is actually a big ol’ scaredy-cat when it comes to bathtime.
Being that he’s so hefty, mom has to call in Dad for reinforcements. Even with dad there, though, he’s gonna make his parents work for it. Thankfully, Phil’s hoomans decided to get his bathtime temper tantrum on camera, and it has everyone who sees it in stitches!
When Phil’s dad runs the bathwater, the Malamute immediately tries to hide in their tiny bathroom. He gets himself shoved up against the sink and shoves his head against the wall. He’s doing everything he can to make sure he doesn’t make eye contact with dad.
Clearly, he thinks if he can’t see his hooman, then they can’t see him either. Oh, Phil… if only it were true!
Phil might think he’s a clever boy, but this eye-catching Malamute isn’t fooling anyone, especially not his dad.
Throughout the video, Phil’s dad keeps calling out his name and telling him it’s time for bath. Phil looks straight up and all around the room. Anywhere but at his dad. Then the goofy dog had a bright idea.
His parents might not have been willing to show mercy on him, but Phil knew they’d do anything for his new baby sister, Mia. So he scooted his way around dad and beneath the sink so he could hide his enormous head behind his sister’s rocker. Of course, his behemoth body was still completely visible to mom and dad.
After his dad chased him around the bathroom for the umpteenth time, Phil ran back to his original corner. Seeing that his oversized furry dog brother was in serious distress, Phil’s cat brother Milo slinked over to him to offer the scared doggo some much-needed comfort.
The hilarious Malamute looks up to mom one more time in a desperate plea for help.
Phil literally looks like he’s begging mom to save him from the terrifying, warm, clean bathwater. Unfortunately, the stench he brought home from the cold murky marsh that day sealed his bathtime sentence.
Dad keeps chasing Phil around the room and every time he gets his hands on him, the malamute just drops to the floor like dead-weight.
The stubborn dog just wouldn’t go down without a fight.
Eventually, mom had to play a nasty trick on Phil and opened the bathroom door and told him to get out. The moment he stood up, dad grabbed him beneath his arms from behind and stood him up so he was on two legs. Like trying to walk your drunk friend home when they don’t want to leave the bar, Phil wibbled and wobbled the whole time he was being led to the bath.
Finally, dad manages to get him in, but the reward was hard-won. The video was only uploaded a couple of weeks ago and it already has close to a million views. It took so long to get Phil in the bath that his mom had to split up the video. His actual bathtime video features him getting a scrub down and a whole lot more vocal about his hatred for the tub, and it has over a million views.
